Merino wool is a very fine and soft material and really does not scratch at all.
Designing a flower or scarf is a bit like painting - I use colourful  raw wools and mix them in a lot of different ways, also exploring texture by incorporating different fibres, yarns and thicknesses. Again, that way every piece is unique and the length and width of the scarves vary.
Nuno technique means pushing fibres through material like silk or cotton. When the wool shrinks it ruffles up the other material and interesting surface textures emerge.
