God is not Jesus, and Jesus is not God.2 Even Jesus himself rejected this. God has said in the Quran:

Indeed, they have disbelieved who have said, “God is the Messiah (Jesus), son of Mary.” The Messiah said, “Children of Israel, worship God, my Lord and your Lord. All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a white has no superiority over black nor a black has any superiority over white except by piety and good action.

O People, it is true that you have certain rights with regard to your women, but they also have rights over you. Remember that you have taken them as your wives only under Allah’s trust and with His permission. If they abide by your right then to them belongs the right to be fed and clothed in kindness. Do treat your women well and be kind to them for they are your partners and committed helpers.

The Five Pillars of Islam

1. TESTIMONY (Shahadah), the first basic foundation,

La ilaha illa Allah, Muhammadur rasoolu Allah.” This saying means “There is no true god (deity) but God (Allah),1 and Muhammad is the Messenger (Prophet) of God.”

This declaration is the basis of all actions in Islam, and the other basic duties follow this affirmation.

Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him) said:

'Forgive him who wrongs you. Join him who cuts you off

Do good to him who does evil to you and

speak the truth even if it be against yourself.'

Invite (all) to the Way of thy Lord with wisdom and beautiful preaching; and argue with them in ways that are best and most gracious: for thy Lord knoweth best, who have strayed from His Path, and who receive guidance.

[Soorat-un-Nahi aya 125].

They only are the (true) believers whose hearts feel fear when Allah is mentioned, and when His revelations are recited unto them they increase their faith, and who trust in their Lord;

Who establish worship and spend of that We have bestowed on them.

Those are they who are in truth believers. For them are grades (of honour) with their Lord, and pardon, and a bountiful provision.

bn 'Abbas narrates "that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) was the most generous person, and he would be at his most generous in Ramadan because Jibril would come to him every night and he would rehearse the Qur'an with him." (Sahih al-Bukhari, Eng. trans. 6/486)

2. COMPULSORY PRAYER (Salah)

Muslims perform five prayers a day. Each prayer does not take more than a few minutes to perform. Prayer in Islam is a direct link between the worshipper and God. There are no intermediaries between God and the worshipper.

3. CHARITY (Zakah) is a compulsory payment from a Muslim's annual savings. It can only be spent on helping the poor, the needy, and the oppressed, and for the general upliftment of society. Zakah is one of the fundamental principles of Islamic economy, which ensures an equitable society where everyone has a right to contribute and share.

4. FASTING (Sawm) is the annual obligatory fasting during each day of the month of Ramadan - the ninth month of the Islamic calendar. One must refrain from eating, drinking, smoking, and sex, from dawn to sunset. Sawm develops a believer's moral and spiritual standard and keeps them away from selfishness, greed, extravagance and other vices. Sawm is an annual training program that increases a Muslim's determination to fulfill their obligation to the Almighty Lord.

5. PILGRIMAGE (Hajj) is an annual event, obligatory on those Muslims who can afford to undertake it, at least once in their lifetime. It is a pilgrimage (journey) to the "House of Allah" (Al-Ka'bah) in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, in the twelfth month of the Islamic calendar. Hajj symbolizes the unity of humankind; Muslims from every race and nationality assemble together in equality and fraternity to worship their Lord.

Say, “He is God, the One.

God, to Whom the creatures turn for their needs.

He begets not, nor was He begotten,

and there is none like Him.” (Quran, 112:1-4)

No one has the right to be invoked, supplicated, prayed to, or shown any act of worship, but God alone.

God alone is the Almighty, the Creator, the Sovereign, and the Sustainer of everything in the whole universe. He manages all affairs. He stands in need of none of His creatures, and all His creatures depend on Him for all that they need. He is the All-Hearing, the All-Seeing, and the All-Knowing. In a perfect manner, His knowledge encompasses all things, the open and the secret, and the public and the private. He knows what has happened, what will happen, and how it will happen. No affair occurs in the whole world except by His will. Whatever He wills is, and whatever He does not will is not and will never be. His will is above the will of all the creatures. He has power over all things, and He is able to do everything. He is the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, and the Most Beneficent. In one of the sayings of the Prophet Muhammad

, we are told that God is more merciful to His creatures than a mother to her child.1 God is far removed from injustice and tyranny. He is All-Wise in all of His actions and decrees. If someone wants something from God, he or she can ask God directly without asking anyone else to intercede with God for him or her.

TASAWWUF

THE NATURE OF TASAWWUF

The department of the Shari'at relating to A'maal-e Baatini (esoteric acts or states of the heart) is called Tasawwuf and Sulook; and, the department of the Shari'at relating to A'maal-e Zaahiri (exoteric acts or physical acts) is called Fiqh. The subject matter dealt with by Tasawwuf is Tahzeeb-e Akhlaaq or the adornment of character while the motive of this branch of the Shari'at is the attainment of Divine Pleasure. The method of acquisition of this Divine Pleasure is total obedience to the commands of the Shari'at.

Tasawwuf in fact is the rooh (soul) and state of perfection of the Deen. Its function is to purify the Baatin (the heart) of man from the lowly bestial attributes of lust, calamities of the tongue, anger, malice, jealousy, love of the world, love for fame, niggardliness, greed, ostentation, vanity, deception, etc. At the same time it (Tasawwuf) aims at the adornment of the heart with the lofty attributes of repentance, perseverance, gratefulness, fear of Allah, hope, abstention, Tauheed, trust, love sincerity, truth, meditation, reckoning, contemplation, etc. In this way, attention towards Allah Ta'ala is inculcated in man. This is in fact the purpose of life. Tasawwuf orTareeqat is therefore not at all negatory of the Deen and Shari'at. On the contrary it is incumbent for every Muslim to become a Sufi(one who follows the path of Tasawwuf). Minus Tasawwuf, a Muslim cannot truly be described as a perfect Muslim.

Narrated Anas bin Malik:

Allah's Apostle (saw) mentioned the greatest sins or he was asked

about the greatest sins.

He (saw)said, "To join partners in worship with Allah;

to kill a soul which Allah has forbidden to kill; and to be undutiful

or unkind to one's parents." The Prophet (saw) added,

"Shall I inform you of the biggest of the great sins?

That is the forged statement or the false witness.

" Shu'ba (the sub-narrator) states that most probably the Prophet (saw) said,

"the false witness."

What is Islam ?

Islam is not a new religion, but the same truth that God revealed through

all His prophets to every people.For a fifth of the world's population,

Islam is both a religion and a complete way of life. Muslims follow

a religion of peace, mercy, and forgiveness, and the majority have nothing

to do with the extremely grave events which have come to be associated

with their faith.

Who are the Muslims?

One billion people from a vast range of races, nationalities and cultures across

the globe - from the southern Philippines to Nigeria - are united by their common

Islamic faith. About 18% live in the Arab world; the world's largest Muslim

community is in Indonesia; substantial parts of Asia and most of Africa are Muslim,

while significant minorities are to be found

in the Soviet Union, China, North and South America, and Europe.

What do Muslims believe?

Muslims believe in One, Unique, Incomparable God;

in the Angels created by Him; in the prophets through whom His

revelations were brought to mankind; in the Day of Judgement

and individual accountability for actions; in God's complete authority

over human destiny and in life after death. Muslims believe in a chain

of prophets starting with Adam and including Noah, Abraham, Ishmael,

Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Job, Moses, Aaron, David, Solomon, Elias, Jonah,

John the Baptist, and Jesus, peace be upon them. But God's final message

to man, a reconfirmation of the eternal message and a summing-up of

all that has gone before was revealed to

the Prophet Muhammad through Gabriel.

How does someone become a Muslim?

Simply by saying 'there is no god apart from God,

and Muhammad is the Messenger of God.

' By this declaration the believer announces his or her faith in

all God's messengers, and the scriptures they brought.

· What does 'Islam' mean?

The Arabic word 'Islam' simply means 'submission',

and derives from a word meaning 'peace'.

In a religious context it means complete submission to the will of God.

'Mohammedanism' is thus a misnomer because it suggests

that Muslims worship Muhammad rather than

God. 'Allah' is the Arabic name for God, which is used by

Arab Muslims and Christians alike.

· Do Islam and Christianity have different origins?

No. Together with Judaism, they go back to the prophet and patriarch

Abraham, and their three prophets are directly descended from his sons,

Muhammad from the eldest, Ishmael, and Moses and Jesus from Isaac.

Abraham established the settlement which today is the city of Makkah,

and built the Ka'ba towards which

all Muslims turn when they pray.

· What is the Ka'ba?

The Ka'ba is the place of worship which God commanded Abraham

and Ishmael to build over four thousand years ago. The building was

constructed of stone on what many believe was the original site of

a sanctuary established by Adam. God commanded Abraham to summon

all mankind to visit this place, and when pilgrims go there today they say

'At Thy service, O Lord', in response to Abraham's summons.

What is the Quran?

The Quran is a record of the exact words revealed by God through

the Angel Gabriel to the Prophet Muhammad. It was memorized

by Muhammad and then dictated to his Companions, and written down

by scribes, who cross-checked it during his lifetime.

Not one word of its 114 chapters, Suras, has been changed over

the centuries, so that the Quran is in every detail the unique and miraculous

text which was revealed to Muhammad fourteen centuries ago.

· What is the Quran about?

The Quran, the last revealed Word of God, is the prime source of every

Muslim's faith and practice. It deals with all the subjects which concern us

as human beings: wisdom, doctrine, worship, and law, but its basic

theme is the relationship between God and His creatures. At the same time

it provides guidelines for a just society, proper human conduct and an

equitable economic system.

Some Basic Islamic Beliefs

1) Belief in God:

Muslims believe in one, unique, incomparable God, Who has no son nor partner, and that none has the right to be worshipped but Him alone. He is the true God, and every other deity is false. He has the most magnificent names and sublime perfect attributes. No one shares His divinity, nor His attributes. In the Quran, God describes Himself:

Say, “He is God, the One. God, to Whom the creatures turn for their needs. He begets not, nor was He begotten, and there is none like Him.”

(Quran, 112:1-4)

No one has the right to be invoked, supplicated, prayed to, or shown any act of worship, but God alone.

God alone is the Almighty, the Creator, the Sovereign, and the Sustainer of everything in the whole universe. He manages all affairs. He stands in need of none of His creatures, and all His creatures depend on Him for all that they need. He is the All-Hearing, the All-Seeing, and the All-Knowing. In a perfect manner, His knowledge encompasses all things, the open and the secret, and the public and the private. He knows what has happened, what will happen, and how it will happen. No affair occurs in the whole world except by His will. Whatever He wills is, and whatever He does not will is not and will never be. His will is above the will of all the creatures. He has power over all things, and He is able to do everything. He is the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, and the Most Beneficent. In one of the sayings of the Prophet Muhammad

, we are told that God is more merciful to His creatures than a mother to her child.1 God is far removed from injustice and tyranny. He is All-Wise in all of His actions and decrees. If someone wants something from God, he or she can ask God directly without asking anyone else to intercede with God for him or her.

God is not Jesus, and Jesus is not God.2 Even Jesus himself rejected this. God has said in the Quran:

Indeed, they have disbelieved who have said, “God is the Messiah (Jesus), son of Mary.” The Messiah said, “Children of Israel, worship God, my Lord and your Lord. Whoever associates partners in worship with God, then God has forbidden Paradise for him, and his home is the Fire (Hell). For the wrongdoers,3 there will be no helpers.”

(Quran, 5:72)

God is not a trinity. God has said in the Quran:

Indeed, they disbelieve who say, “God is the third of three (in a trinity),” when there is no god but one God. If they desist not from what they say, truly, a painful punishment will befall the disbelievers among them. Would they not rather repent to God and ask His forgiveness? For God is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. The Messiah (Jesus), son of Mary, was no more than a messenger...

(Quran, 5:73-75)

Islam rejects that God rested on the seventh day of the creation, that He wrestled with one of His angels, that He is an envious plotter against mankind, or that He is incarnate in any human being. Islam also rejects the attribution of any human form to God. All of these are considered blasphemous. God is the Exalted. He is far removed from every imperfection. He never becomes weary. He does not become drowsy nor does he sleep.

The Arabic word Allah means God (the one and only true God who created the whole universe). This wordAllah is a name for God, which is used by Arabic speakers, both Arab Muslims and Arab Christians. This word cannot be used to designate anything other than the one true God. The Arabic word Allah occurs in the Quran about 2700 times. In Aramaic, a language related closely to Arabic and the language that Jesus habitually spoke,4 God is also referred to as Allah.

2) Belief in the Angels:

Muslims believe in the existence of the angels and that they are honored creatures. The angels worship God alone, obey Him, and act only by His command. Among the angels is Gabriel, who brought down the Quran to Muhammad

3) Belief in God’s Revealed Books:

Muslims believe that God revealed books to His messengers as proof for mankind and as guidance for them. Among these books is the Quran, which God revealed to the Prophet Muhammad

God has guaranteed the Quran’s protection from any corruption or distortion. God has said:

Indeed, We have sent down the Quran, and surely We will guard it (from corruption). (Quran, 15:9)

4) Belief in the Prophets and Messengers of God:

Muslims believe in the prophets and messengers of God, starting with Adam, including Noah, Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, and Jesus (peace be upon them). But God’s final message to man, a reconfirmation of the eternal message, was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad

. Muslims believe that Muhammad is the last prophet sent by God, as God has said:

Muhammad is not the father of any one of your men, but he is the Messenger of God and the last of the prophets...

(Quran, 33:40)

Muslims believe that all the prophets and messengers were created human beings who had none of the divine qualities of God.

5) Belief in the Day of Judgment:

Muslims believe in the Day of Judgment (the Day of Resurrection) when all people will be resurrected for God’s judgment according to their beliefs and deeds.

6) Belief in Al-Qadar:

Muslims believe in Al-Qadar, which is Divine Predestination, but this belief in Divine Predestination does not mean that human beings do not have freewill. Rather, Muslims believe that God has given human beings freewill. This means that they can choose right or wrong and that they are responsible for their choices.

The belief in Divine Predestination includes belief in four things: 1) God knows everything. He knows what has happened and what will happen. 2) God has recorded all that has happened and all that will happen. 3) Whatever God wills to happen happens, and whatever He wills not to happen does not happen. 4) God is the Creator of everything.

As long as Islam is concerned it has nothing to do with violence or any kind of terrorist activities and it has been reiterated ample number of times. The Holy Quran clearly declares that killing an innocent person is equivalent to killing the whole humanity. Then how can anyone term Islam as the religion that promote or encourage violence or extremism?

Even if someone with Muslim identities indulges in any kind of violent activities that harm the innocents, their acts are against the principles of Islam there certainly no doubt in this. While committing the crimes they are not following Islam. Far from representing Islam, the moment they resort to violence that kills innocent lives they cease to be a Muslim.

Most Muslim jurists agree on the principal objectives of sharia: the protection and promotion of life, religion, intellect, property, family and dignity.

For centuries, most Islamic scholars around the world have agreed that Muslims must follow the laws of the land in which they live. This principle was established by the prophet Muhammad in A.D. 614-615, when he sent some of his followers to be protected by the Christian king of Abyssinia, where they co-existed peacefully.

Suicide is forbidden.

Allah (swt) says in the Quran:

" if anyone saves a life, it shall be as though he had saved the lives of all mankind." (5:32)

"O ye who believe!... [do not] kill yourselves, for truly Allah has been to you Most Merciful. If any do that in rancour and injustice, soon shall We cast him into the Fire..." (Qur'an 4:29-30).

"O ye who believe! Remain steadfast for Allah, bearing witness to justice. Do not allow your hatred for others make you swerve to wrongdoing and turn you away from justice. Be just; that is closer to true piety."- Qur'an, Surah al-Maidah (5:8)

"And fight in the way of Allah those who fight you. But do not transgress limits. Truly Allah loves not the transgressors."- Qur'an, Surah Al-Baqarah (2:190)

In Islam, several things are clear:

· Suicide is forbidden. "O ye who believe!... [do not] kill yourselves, for truly Allah has been to you Most Merciful. If any do that in rancour and injustice, soon shall We cast him into the Fire..." (Qur'an 4:29-30).

· The taking of life is allowed only by way of justice (i.e. the death penalty for murder), but even then, forgiveness is better. "Nor take life - which Allah has made sacred - except for just cause..." (17:33).

· In pre-Islamic Arabia, retaliation and mass murder was commonplace. If someone was killed, the victim's tribe would retaliate against the murderer's entire tribe. This practice was directly forbidden in the Qur'an (2:178-179). Following this statement of law, the Qur'an says, "After this, whoever exceeds the limits shall be in grave chastisement" (2:178). No matter what wrong we perceive as being done against us, we may not lash out against an entire population of people.

· The Qur'an admonishes those who oppress others and transgress beyond the bounds of what is right and just. "The blame is only against those who oppress men with wrongdoing and insolently transgress beyond bounds through the land, defying right and justice. For such there will be a chastisement grievous (in the Hereafter)" (42:42).

· Harming innocent bystanders, even in times of war, was forbidden by the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). This includes women, children, noncombatant bystanders, and even trees and crops. Nothing is to be harmed unless the person or thing is actively engaged in an assault against Muslims.

The predominant theme in the Qur'an is forgiveness and peace. Allah (God) is Merciful and Forgiving, and seeks that in His followers. Indeed, most people who spend time on a personal level with ordinary Muslims have found them to be peaceful, honest, hard-working, civic-minded people.

In the fight against terrorism of all forms, it is important to understand who or what is our enemy. We can only fight against this horror if we understand its causes and motivations. What motivates a person to lash out in this violent, inhumane way? As the points out, researchers conclude that religion neither causes nor explains suicide terrorism. The true motivation of such attacks is something that all of us -- mental health professionals, politicians, and common people -- need to understand, so that we can address the issues more honestly, prevent more violence, and find ways to work towards lasting peace.

The Signs of the Age of Fitnah (Trials)

All praise is for Allah. We praise Him and seek His help and seek His forgiveness and believe in Him and rely on Him. We seek refuge with Him from the evils of our souls and from the vices of our deeds. There is none to misguide him whom He guides and there is none to guide him whom He lets go astray. We bear witness that there is no god but Allah the One Who has no partner. We also bear witness that our sire, and ours authority and our Prophet and our Master, Muhammad (saw)

is His servant and His Messenger. May Almighty Allah have mercy on him, his household and bless and salute them all in great abundance.

The Holy Prophet was commissioned as a Prophet for all peoples of the world the Day of Judgment To day I want to say something briefly about such a theme of the teachings of the Holy Prophet as is very necessary today but is generally overlooked. Almighty Allah sent the Holy Prophet to this world as the last of the Prophets , thus finalizing with him the chain of Prophet hood. Another distinction which Allah bestowed upon him over other Prophets, is that the latter Prophets were sent to some particular people residing in a particular land in a particular age. Their teachings and preaching were-confined to territory. For example, Sayyidn'a Moosa (Moses)

sent to the Children of Israel, living in Egypt, his prophet hood was limited only to this community and this territory As against this, the Holy Prophet was sent to the entire world and entire humanity and for all times till the Day of Judgment. The Holy Qu’ran bears witness to this fact:

And We have not sent you (O Muhammad) but as a bringer of good tidings and as a Warner to all mankind..(34:28 )

The words of all mankind' imply all human wherever and in whatever age they are living. This clearly that his prophet hood was not confined only to Arabian Peninsulas nor to any particular age. His prophethood encompassed all periods and ages till Day of Judgment.

His teachings and injunctions shall remain valid, effective and in force till Judgment. As already pointed out his

teaching are not confined to any particular age and apply to every walk of life. These teachings consist of two aspects (1) prescribes the rules of the Shari 'ah concerning lawful, unlawful, desirable, permissible, and other aspect (2) predicts the events which will confront the Ummah in the times to come, and how the Ummah should tackle these events.

Prediction about future events

This second aspect is also a very important part of the teachings of the Holy Prophet in which, peeping into the future through the light of his Prophethood, he has informed his Ummah (all human being including his followers) of many future events and the ways how the members of his Ummah should tackle these events, so as to remain on the right path of Deen. Today I want to say something on this second aspect of the Prophet's teachings.

Anxiety for the salvation of the Ummah

The Holy Prophet always remained concerned about the good of his Ummah. It occurs in a narrative:

The Holy Prophet always remained drowned deep in some worry, grief.

What was the cause of this anxiety and grief? it was indeed not about collecting worldly resources, nor about improving his own honor and status among his community. The grief under which he was pining was about how to save from Hell-Fire the people to whom he had been sent; how to divert them from the path of error and to guide them to the straight path of right guidance. Finding His Prophet

drowned in such grief Allah has frequently revealed verses to advise the Prophet to give up such pining and fretting. Thus, Allah has said:

It may be that you will torment your soul that they do not become believers. (18:6)

This verse indicates how concerned the Holy Prophet was about the right guidance of his Ummah on to the path of Eeman (Faith). He is reported to have said in a Hadith (his saying or action) :

My example is like that man who kindles fires and seeing the fire, the moths begin to fall on the flames. The man tries to keep the moths away from the flames to save them from being burnt in the flames. In the same way I am

trying to save you from Hell-Fire by holding you back by your waists, but you are rushing into the Fire.

So concerned did the Holy Prophet feel about the right guidance of his Ummah, including also those who were yet to come to the world !

What Trials and Tribulations are expected to break out in the future?

The Holy Prophet has, therefore, informed the future generations of the events that shall occur in their times. Accordingly all books of Ahadith contain permanent chapters on Trials. In the Chapters all such Ahadith have been collated in which the Holy Prophet

has informed of, and warned the people against, the tribulations expected to occur in the future. The Holy Prophet has said in a Hadith:

In the future trials will fall down into your houses like the falling down of the drops of rain water.

These trials have been compared to the drops of rain water because the trials will fall down on your houses in an unbroken succession one after another.

The Holy Prophet has said in another Hadith:

Very soon trials and tribulations will appear which will be like dark nights.

In other words, just as a man is not able to find his way in dark nights in the same way during these blinding trials people will not know what to do and where to go Those trials will encompass the entire society, leaving no place of shelter for the people. The Holy Prophet

also taught the people a supplication to find refuge with Allah from these trials:

O Allah, we seek refuge with You from these apparent or hidden trials. This supplication was included in the Prophet's daily routine.

What is a Trial?

We should now try to understand the meaning of (Trial). we should also try to find out the teachings of the Holy Prophet for all of us to obey in order to remain safe from the harms of these trials. We are not aware of the real implications of this term, although we use it from morning till evening. This word has also been used in the Holy Qur'an many times. It has been mentioned in the Holy Qur'an at one place meaning that:

"... The creation of a trial is more grievous sin than murder...."

The meaning of Trial

The word (fitna or fitnah ) is an Arabic word the dictionary meaning of which is to find out the purity or impurity of precious metals like gold or silver by melting it on fire. Melting the metal on fire discloses the reality. For the same reason, it is also used to mean testing and examining something. Thus, a second meaning of this word is "trial". When hardships and misfortunes descend on a man his real worth and character are tested by his conduct and behavior under these trying situations. It is observed whether he bears these trying hours, days with patience makes a fuss and raises hues and cries. this testing is also called (Trial).

The word (Trial) as used in the Ahadith

The word d (Trial) has been used in the Ahadith to express a situation at any time. When the truth is obscure and it becomes very difficult to distinguish between good and bad, right and wrong and truth and falsehood. When such a situation arises, it is said that it is a time of trial. It is also a time of trial when sins, crimes and disobedience become rampant. In the same way to regard falsehood as truth and truth as falsehood and to put forward something as a proof which is not proof; these are forms of (Trial). For example, if you tell a person that such an act is unlawful and strictly prohibited, the person shall reply that the entire society, the whole world including Saudi Arabia is doing this act. In our times it has become a common practice that when an objection is raised to any act, the doer at once replies that he has seen the same act being done in the Saudi Arabia. This is also a (trial) to put forward some act or practice as a proof which is not at all a proof. In the same way we find that many groups and parties have sprung up in the city, each with its slogan and tenet and it is difficult to decide which is on the right path and which is on the wrong path. Truth and falsehood have thus become mixed up. All these fall within the definition of (Trial).

A quarrel between two parties is a (Trial)

It is also a case of trial when two Muslims or two Muslim groups fall out with each other so violently that they are ready to shed blood and commit murder and it is not known which of the two is right and which is wrong.

The Holy Prophet is reported to have said in a Hadith

When two Muslims begin to fight With each other with their swords, the murderer as well as the murdered will both enter Hell-Fire.

One of the Companions said to the Holy Prophet O Messenger of Allah It is understandable that the murderer shall go to Hell for murdering a Muslim, but why shall the murdered shall enter Hell? The Holy Prophet replied, saying: The murdered will enter Hell because he too had come out to fight with the intention of murdering his opponent but he did not succeed in his intention but his opponent succeeded in his intention. None of the two was fighting in the cause of Allah, but worldly benefit in the form of money or some political benefit. Both will, therefore, enter Hell.

Killing and robbing are Trial

The Holy Prophet said in another Hadith:

A time will come upon the people when there will be a great deal of a (confusion/disturbance). on being asked about he answered: It is killing and robbing, i.e., in those days these crimes will increase by leaps and bounds and human life will become meaner than that of mosquitoes and flies.

The Holy Prophet has said in another Hadith:

A time will come upon the people in which the killer will not know why he killed the victim nor will the victim killed know why he was killed.

Look at the conditions obtaining today in the society which fully confirms the truth of the Holy Prophet's prediction. This is as if the Holy Prophet was seeing these conditions with his own eyes.

In the olden days it was not known who was the killer, but it could be known why the victim was killed, i.e., he was killed by robbers for robbing the victim of his money? or by enemies. Anyway, the cause of the murder became known. What is happening now-a-days? A man is sitting or standing in front of his door, he has no enemies, he is not involved in politics yet some hooligan shoots at him and kills him without any apparent cause. The Holy Prophet

has predicted all these events in clear words:

A Hadith about the Holy City of Makkah

It is narrated by Sayyidn'a Abdullah bin Umar that the Holy Propeht said:

Until recently the people were not able to understand the real meaning of this Hadith, but now the meaning has become quite clear to them. The hadith may be translated as under:

When the belly of Makkah will be cleft open and through it will be dug out river-like passage (i.e. tunnels) and the buildings of the Holy City of Makkah will rise higher than its mountains when you observe these signs, then understand that the time of ? (Trial) is near at hand.

The cleaving asunder of the belly of the Holy City of Makkah

This Hadith has continued on records of the last fourteen centuries. The commentators of the Hadith felt baffled, while explaining this Hadith as they could not understand how belly of' the Holy City of Makkah could be cleft asunder nor could they understand the meaning of digging out river like passages. It was really very difficult to imagine the sense of all these predictions. But by seeing today's Makkah one feels that the Holy Prophet

made these predictions, as if he e was actually seeing with his own eyes today's Makkahtul-Mukarramah. Previously the commentators (Muhaddithin) interpreted this Hadith by saying that in their times Makkah was a dry and mountainous city, but in some future age Allah may cause rivers and canals to flow in that city. However today one feels by seeing these (underground) tunnels how the belly of Makkah has been cleft asunder:

The other sentence which the Holy Prophet spoke out in this Hadith is that the buildings of the Holy City of Makkah will rise higher than its mountains. A few years ago none could imagine that buildings would be built in Makkah which would rise higher than its mountains, as the city was surrounded by mountains on all sides. But go to Makkah and see for yourself how (high-rise) buildings higher than mountains have been built there.

It appears from this Hadith, as if fourteen centuries ago the Holy Prophet

had seen these changes and conditions with his own eyes. All these things had been shown to him clearly through revelations and light of Prophetic knowledge which Allah had granted him The Holy Prophet has clearly mentioned one by one what trials and tribulations the Muslims will have to face in the times to come. He has also mentioned simultaneously what the Muslims should do at such a time.

The present era in the light of the Ahadith

Every Muslim should keep in view those Ahadith in which the Holy Prophet a has predicted the future events. Maulana Muhammad Yusuf Ludhyanawi Sahib(Rh)has compiled a book titled "The Present Era in the Light of the Ahadith" He has tried to gather together in this book all the ahadith about the Trials. He has included in this book a Hadith in which the Holy Prophet

has mentioned seventy-two events which will occur during the Era of the Trials. I advise you to read them one by one and see how these events exactly agree to those taking place in our times and in our environments.

(14) O ye who believe! stand out firmly for justice, as witnesses to Allah, even as against yourselves, or your parents, or your kin, and whether it be (against) rich or poor: for Allah can best protect both. Follow not the lusts (of your hearts), lest ye swerve, and if ye distort (justice) or decline to do justice, verily Allah is well- acquainted with all that ye do.

LAILATUL QADR DUA

"Ya Rahman, Ya Raheem, Ya Rabb al Alameen, I call upon You and I ask You by every Name that You have named Yourself with, revealed in Your Book, taught any one of Your creation or kept unto Yourself in the knowledge of the unseen that is with You,

Allahumma salli wa sallim 'alaa nabiyyinaa Muhammad.

Ya Rabb, make me sincere in this dua.

Part 1

Grant me a death with the shahadah on my tongue. Grant me Husn al Dhan billah (good expectations from Allah)

Expand my grave for me and illuminate it with light. Preserve my record in Illiyeen.

Lighten for me the questioning of the grave.

Grant me death in a state of Ibadah, that is most pleasing to You and resurrect me in the same state.

Keep me free from fear, anxiety and terror on the day of judgement.

Grant me my book in my right hand.

Make me among those who show their books to others with happiness.

Make me successful in the Meezan. Help me cross the Siraat like lightening.

Ya Allah, do not give away my good deeds to others.

Reunite me with my family in Jannah.

Do not expose my faults in front of others on the day of judgement.

Ya Afu, Forgive the sins that I don't remember and the sins that I didn't even consider as sins.

Grant me a heart filled with tranquility and peace.

Cleanse my heart from malice, jealousy, hatred, self- admiration, showing off, envy, arrogance and pride.

Grant me the ability to forgive others.

Grant me soft speech, protect my tongue from lying, backbiting and hurting others.

Grant me beautiful patience.

Grant me the correct Aqeedah, excellent memory and understanding of the deen with daleel.

Bless my parents, forgive them, Grant them good health and make me a sadaqa jaariyah for them.

Bless my siblings in their marriages. Bind us together with love. Do not let shayaateen break our bond.

Grant all the single Muslims the coolness of their eyes.

Grant us righteous children and make them a sadaqa jariyah for us Oh Allah help me leave behind a legacy with humility, allow me to leave this dunya with the best legacies for our offsprings and for others.

Help me understand, write, speak and teach Arabic. So that I can understand Your Book. Help me maintain good ties with my relatives.

Help me see my faults and cover it from others. Allow me to speak with wisdom just like the Prophet peace be upon him.

Part 2

Bestow me with wealth to spend in your way.

Do not let others humiliate/oppress/mock/take advantage of me.

Help me be courageous, confident and a positive person who makes the correct decisions at the right time.

Grant me modesty in clothing and speech in front of non Mahrams.

Forgive the Muslim ummah -the living and the dead. Bless the Muslims with goodness and grant victory to the oppressed.

Fill our hearts with Emaan. Oh Allah, accept my deeds.

Ya Allah, O my Allah, Ya Rahman, Ya Raheem, Ya Kareem, Ya Sattar, Ya Gaffar, Ya Qaadir, Ya Sami, Ya Aleem, Al Mujeeb, Ya Allah I turn to you in repentance, in submission. I beg you to fulfill my duas.

Ya Allah make them Hufaadh, who act upon what they have memorised, and teach it to others. Ya Allah Make our children workers for Your Deen, da'ees, imaams, scholars and shaheeds.

Ya Allah Protect my family from evil, calamities, enviers & the shayaateen from man & jinn.

Ya Allah Protect our children from harm, sicknesses, disbelief, haraam and destruction. Ya Allah help them to be among those who continuously return in repentance to You.

Ya Allah Grant our children success in Deen, duniya & Aakhirah & grant us a lineage of righteous offspring until Yawm al Qiyaamah.

Ya Allah Unite our entire lineage in Jannah al Firdaus.

Ya Allah Make them become of the reasons for our place in Jannah & shield against the Hellfire.

Ya Allah save me & my entire family from the Hell Fire & make us enter Jannah al Firdaus Aa'laa without being accounted.

Part 5

Ya Allah, you are Al Gaffaar. Forgive my parents.

Ya Allah Reward them in the greatest measures in this dunya & akhirah.

Ya Allah Elevate their ranks and grant them Jannah al Firdaus.

Ya Allah Make me coolness of their eyes in their old age.

Ya Allah Grant my siblings success in this dunya & akhirah.

Ya Allah Elevate the ranks of my parents, my spouse's parents, my sisters & brothers, my elders & entire Ummah.

Ya Allah Protect them from illnesses, diseases and difficulties of old age.

Ya Allah Forgive the sins of those who have passed away in my family & the Ummah - young & old.

Ya Allah Grant them a peaceful time in the barzakh till they meet You.

Ya Allah Save us from trials of Dajjal, Yajuj & Majuj & the last Day.

Ya Allah Relieve their sufferings & elevate their ranks.

Ya Allah Bring the downfall of those (modern day pharaohs) oppressors &

Relieve those who are deprived, burdened, oppressed, in debt.

Ya Allah forgive me for anything I forgot to mention and give me more than what I intended in the dunya and in the aakhira.

Ya Allah bless the person who forwarded this beautiful dua and make this a source of sadaqa jaariah for them Aameen.

Ya Allah, answer our Duaas You are the All Hearing, All Knowing!

Lo! in the difference of day and night and all that Allah hath created in the heavens and the earth are portents, verily, for folk who ward off (evil).

10:6

And He it is Who giveth life and causeth death, and His is the difference of night and day. Have ye then no sense?

And He it is Who hath appointed night and day in succession, for him who desireth to remember, or desireth thankfulness.

39:5

Have ye observed the water which ye drink?

Is it ye who shed it from the raincloud, or are We the Shedder?

If We willed We verily could make it bitter. Why then, give ye not thanks?

Have ye observed the fire which ye strike out;

Was it ye who made the tree thereof to grow, or were We the grower?

We, even We, appointed it a memorial and a comfort for the dwellers in

the wilderness.

Therefor (O Muhammad), praise the name of thy Lord, the Tremendous.

56:68 to 74

And if all the trees in the earth were pens, and the sea, with seven more seas to help it, (were ink), the words of Allah could not be exhausted. Lo! Allah is Mighty, Wise.

31:27

Their prayer therein will be: Glory be to Thee, O Allah! and their greeting therein will be: Peace. And the conclusion of their prayer will be: Praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds!

10:10

On the authority of Abu Dharr al-Ghifaari, RadhiAllahu Anhu, from the Prophet, SallAllahu Alayhi Wa Sallam, from among the sayings he relates from His Lord (Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala) that He said,

“O My servants, I have forbidden wrongdoing for Myself and I have made it forbidden for you. Therefore, do not wrong one another. O My servants, all of you are lost except those whom I have guided. Therefore, seek guidance from Me and I will guide you. O My servants, all of you are hungry except those whom I have fed. Therefore, seek food from Me and I will feed you. O My servants, all of you are naked except those whom I have clothed. Therefore seek clothing from Me and I will clothe you. O My servants, you sin by day and by night, and I forgive all sins. Therefore seek forgiveness from Me and I will forgive you. O My servants, you will not be able to harm Me so as to bring any harm to Me and you will be able to benefit Me so as to bring any benefit to Me. O My servants, if the first and the last of you and the human and the jinn of you were as pious as the most pious heart of anyone among you, it would not add anything to My dominion. O My servants, if the first and the last of you and the human and the jinn of you were as wicked as the most wicked heart of anyone among you it would not decrease anything from My dominion. O My servants, if the first and the last of you and the human and the jinn of you were to gather together on [the same sector] of land and all asked Me and if I were to give everyone of them what he asked, that would not decrease what I have any more than a needle decreases what is in the ocean when it is put into it. O My servants, it is but your deeds that I reckon for you. Then I recompense you for them. The one who finds good is to give praises to Allah. The one who finds other than that should not blame anyone but himself.”

“O My servants”

Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala) begins His statement by calling to humans with the term ‘O My servants’. This is significant for a number of reasons.

Firstly, it highlights for us what our relationship with Allah (swt) is. Allah (swt) is our Lord and Master and we are His servants and slaves. The fact that we are addressed in this way should make us attentive to what is to follow, because the words are coming from our Master.

Secondly, this type of address demonstrates to us that Allah (swt) is not in need of us at all. He (swt) is the Master and Lord of all the creation and He (swt) does with them what He (swt) wills. He (swt) has power over all things, and we are totally dependent on Him (swt).

Finally, we see that the address is made to all of mankind, not just the believers. The statements are not specific to any people, time or place. The prohibition of wrongdoing is for all people for all time. This was the message from Allah (swt) conveyed by all of the Prophets.

So the message is addressed to each and everyone of us, to remind us of our relationship with and total dependence on our Creator, and to guide us to what is best for us in relation to our religion, life and end.

“I have forbidden wrongdoing for Myself and I have made it forbidden for you. Therefore, do not wrong one another.”

There are numerous places in the Qur’an in which Allah (swt) has denied that He (swt) would ever commit any wrongdoing or injustice. He (swt) says:

“Surely, Allah wrongs not [even to the extent] of the weight of an atom.”

(Surah al-Nisaa:40)

“And your Lord treats no one with injustice.”

(Surah al-Khaf:49)

Even when Allah (swt) punishes somebody, He (swt) does it out of His Justice, based on the deeds of the people. It is not Allah (swt) that wrongs people, they wrong themselves. So it is clear that Allah (swt) has never, and will never, commit any form of wrong doing. Therefore scholars such as Ibn Taymiyah have understood the statement, “I have forbidden wrongdoing for Myself”, to mean that wrongdoing is something that couldtheoretically be possible for Allah, but that He (swt) has had forbidden it from Himself and removed it as a possibility. And Allah knows best.

Allah (swt) has also made wrongdoing or dhulm in Arabic, forbidden for us. Anything that is forbidden in Islam, is a form of wrongdoing. Alternately, everything that has been ordered is a form of justice. Indeed justice is one of the key goals of the religion of Islam. When we go against the teachings of Islam and commit wrongdoings, injustice is created.

There are three main types of dhulm, or wrongdoing that are committed by people:

1) The dhulm that one commits against themselves by disobedience to Allah (swt). This includes many different sinful acts, the worst of them being ascribing partners to Allah (swt).

2) The dhulm against others. Any type of harm that a person commits against another is a wrongdoing and form of injustice. We may not, as Muslims, harm another persons honour, wealth or life. Backbiting, or saying something about someone that they would not like to hear, is included in this category.

3) The dhulm towards other creatures or towards creation in general. This category includes killing or mutilating animals for sport or play.

There is one type of dhulm or wrongdoing that will not be forgiven by Allah (swt), and that is shirk, ascribing partners with Allah (swt). Dhulm in which one wrongs oneself Allah (swt) may forgive, or He may punish us for. The dhulm that will not be overlooked unless reconciled in this life or the next, is wrongdoing towards other humans. This kind of wrongdoing cannot be left unresolved. One must either seek forgiveness from the wronged person or suffer punishment in this life or the Hereafter. The Prophet (SallAllahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) said:

“Whoever has wronged another concerning his reputation or anything else should beg him to forgive him before the Day of Resurrection when there will be no money [to compensate for wrong deeds], but, if he has good deeds, those good deeds will be taken from him according to the wrong he has done. And if he has no good deeds, the sins of the oppressed person will be loaded on him.”

When we think that even saying something about someone that they would not like to hear is a punishable form of wrongdoing, how many of us can truly say that we have nothing to fear on the Day of Resurrection? Take heed and watch your tongue, for nothing leads us to Hellfire like the sins of the tongue.

We can strive to keep ourselves from committing dhulm against ourselves, Allah (swt) and others, by having taqwa of Allah and remembering His blessings. We should also try to develop humility, which is the opposite of pride and arrogance which lead many people to dhulm. We should strive to be just and righteous, and to free ourselves from envy. And we should turn to Allah (swt) and sincerely ask him to guide us and purify our souls.
