The Hellenistic-Parthian period

Ten building phases are witness of an intensive settlement activity in the Hellenistic-Parthian period on Tall al-Hamidiya.

Up to now no larger areas of the Hellenistic-Parthian period have been excavated, therefore the question about the structure of the settlement remains open. The houses are characterised by well set bricks, although they are made of bad material (often very roughly tempered); the brick floors or stone and sherds pavings are carefully laid. Dates by pottery and small finds are very general; only the period Hellenistic-Parthian 4 is dated by the marked handle fragment of a Rhodian amphora: around 220/180 BC.
