Araxis "the Adventurer" starts his existence as a wandering star, a child of Esaros. He is the first of the Celestial gods to explore the world made by Luckji. To avoid frightening the creatures of flesh, Araxis makes a mask to shield his light. On his first journey to the world, he encounters Radil, from whom he learns many crafts. When he returns to the heavens he tells many of his brothers and sisters about his experiences and many of them choose to take on form themselves in order to see these things for themselves.
At Araxis urging, Auros the sun god creates Volaris, the first moon as a home for the stars made flesh, or "Light Children", closer to the world. Araxis becomes the messenger of Auros and the chief amongst the Celestial gods who live on the moon.
Araxis founds the city of Auralios on the moon. Along with the Pureborn, the building is done by Dwarves, led by Maurak son of Garokk Brightstone, whom Araxis brings to Volaris. However, bringing the mortal Dwarves to Volaris introduces Death to the moon which brings about the first conflict between the Celestial Gods and Lornak. Araxis and the host of Volaris try to fight off Lornak; and his brother Targus stabs the God of Death, scattering him for a time. In the process, the Sunspear of Targus is empowered with Death. However, Araxis is forced to compromise and arranges for Drys the Darkstar to carry dead souls from the moon to the Underworld.
Sadly, Araxis is partly responsible for bringing a great evil into the world. He has a son, by Iliath the Goddess of Clouds and Rain. He is called Krorth the God of Storm, and brings great destruction to the world. Krorth also sends Gerandos, Cammus and Silus to attack the moon, though their attempt is essentially futile. However, Targus is enraged by the attack on the Targites and vows vengeance. Araxis is drawn into the conflict between Targus and the Storm pantheon.
Araxis features in many stories of the New World:
