Remember that in the context of a major haemorrhage - all blood product special requirements are superseded (within the confines of safety of standard operating procedures) - for example - patients with an anti-U antibody bleeding in A+E resus, or an emergency neonatal transfusion needed within 15minutes). No-one should die because of a lack of blood - and this is the overriding principle when you go into the viva.
Please note the additional requirement of hepatitis E negative blood in the spreadsheet - and as of November 2017, all blood products are deemed to be hepatitis E virus negative as provided by NHSBT.
Please review the attached spreadsheet for red cell requirements.
