The following is a short version of Guido Maione's Curriculum Vitae.

Guido Maione was born in Naples (Italy) in 1967. He received the 5-years-program Laurea (M.Sc.) degree with full marks with honours (110/110 magna cum laude) in Electronic Engineering in 1992 from Politecnico di Bari (Bari, Italy). The Laurea-degree-thesis was on "Stability problems in scheduling of flexible manufacturing systems" (translation from Italian).

Since 1993 he is licensed for the Italian engineering profession and he currently belongs to the professional Engineer Register of licensed engineers of the Bari district. He also was a Complimentary Officer of the Coast Guard of the Italian Navy (April 14, 1993 - July 13, 1994).

Then Guido Maione won a scholarship to attend a 3-years doctoral program in Electrical Engineering (curriculum "Industrial Automation"), after which he obtained the Doctoral (Ph.D.) degree in Electrical Engineering in 1997 from Politecnico di Bari. The research activity was focused in the field of industrial automation and control systems. Maione defended a final PhD-thesis on "Object-oriented design of an FMS control system".

In 1996 he won the official selection for an assistant professor tenure track position in Automatic Control, in the Engineering School of the University of Lecce, Italy. Until 30 of December 2002, he worked in Lecce, where he joined the Department of Material Science (1996-1999), then the Department of Engineering for Innovation (1999-2002).

In 1997 he was Visiting Scholar at the Electrical, Computer and Systems Engineering Department of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (Troy, NY, USA). In 2007, 2009 and 2013 he also visited the School of Electronics, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Queen’s University Belfast (UK), for joint researches.

On Dec. 31, 2002, Maione moved to the Second Engineering School of the Politecnico di Bari, located in the city of Taranto, Italy. There he initially worked for the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (2003), then for the newly instituted Department of Environmental Engineering and for the Sustainable Development (2004 - Nov. 2011). Currently, he is back at the Department of Electrical and Information Engineering - DEI (formerly known as Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering) in Bari. He taught about 45 official undergraduate and postgraduate courses and he is currently member of the Scientific and Teaching Committee of the Doctoral (PhD) Program in Electrical and Information Engineering at DEI, Politecnico di Bari.
