About profession "Engraver" and " Jeweler"

There are special engraving machines, drill bits, drills, pantographs and tools for manual work (cutters, pins, needles). Sometimes the method of etching with acids is used to create relief images on metal, glass, wood, plastic. As a rule, the most complex and ornate patterns are made by hand.

According to the technique of engraving is of three types:

planar, or two — dimensional-engraving on the plane;

dropped, or three-dimensional, resulting in a relief and even three-dimensional figures. There are 2 ways: convex (or positive) engraving, in which the pattern is above the General background and in-depth (or negative), in which the relief is below the background;

engraving under the "mobile" is used when working with silver: recesses made with stichel and chisels, several times filled with black wax and varnish.

For special expressiveness and decoration of engravings, such methods as etching, stamping, milling, notching, engraving sampling are used.

Technical progress has also touched the engraving art. With the advent of engraving special software and graphics editors greatly expanded the ability to perform patterns and inscriptions with stunning effects. There are new mechanized methods of engraving: laser, diamond, photo engraving.

object modeling;

choosing the material to work with;

choice of processing method, tool;

the actual engraving, the fine-tuning and improvement;

sharpening of engraving tools;

adjustment of engraving machines and devices.
