Bobby Shevil - March 2022
Robert L Shevil - Granville, NY – age 66, passed away at Glens Falls Hospital on March 28, 2022, following an extended illness.
Bob was born on June 8, 1955, in Granville, NY the son of the late George and Janet (Dawson) Shevil. Bob married his high school sweetheart and soulmate, Melanie Hall on October 4, 1975.
Bob thoroughly enjoyed the spring and summer months where he could lovingly cultivate his beautiful gardens and enjoy the pool area with Melanie at their home. He looked forward to singing in the choir at St. Mary's Church with his friends Paul Labas, Joseph Grottoli and Mary Lennox. It took Bob a while to decide he wanted to join Facebook, but once it happened, he loved it. It gave Bob a platform for his writing and those who were his Facebook friends looked forward to his posts of wisdom and kindness. That will leave a void for all. He and Melanie loved trips to Maine and Florida where they could pay homage to the beautiful ocean. Bob enjoyed reading, but he also liked settling in with Melanie for a night of watching old movies or having a glass of wine and listening to music at the close of the day.
Bob was predeceased by his parents and a son Bryan. He is survived by his beloved Melanie, wife of 46 years and their fur baby Sammi. Also left to miss him is his sister Teresa. He was blessed with two nieces: April and Mariah and 1 great niece and 4 great nephews: Austin, Logan, Nathan, Bethany, Harley and his extended family Don Hall, Rob Hall, Diane Nussbaum.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, April 28, 2022 at 1PM at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 23 Bulkley Ave. Granville, NY. The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the Glens Falls Hospital staff for the wonderful care Bob received during his extended stay. Melanie would also like to acknowledge and thank Don Hall for all the help he has given her during Bob's hospital stays. In lieu of flowers Bob would have appreciated donations to be made to the ASPCA or an animal shelter of your choice or the Granville Rescue Squad. Kenneth Richard Towne 1954 – 2021
Granville, NY - In the small morning hours of February 15, 2021, Kenneth R. Towne passed peacefully from this world in his home in Granville, NY. Across the Green Mountains and deep in the Adirondacks, deer, bears, turkeys, and trout shuddered a sigh of relief. Kenny was a legendary sportsman with an equally legendary beard, a crack shot who didn't believe in following blood-trails, but propounded "Heap Theory" (as in, one shot should put the buck in a heap). He could read rivers like supermarket tabloids, knowing each ripple, each riffle, each eddy will reveal a brookie's most scandalous secrets with the delicately placed whisper of a dry-fly. His mountain-man wiles served him well his whole life, from his service as a Marine in Vietnam to his career as a corrections officer at the Great Meadow facility. Since his retirement, he devoted much of his time to the Freemasons with his brother Eric, his best friend and hunting partner.
By both work and play, he provided well for his family: his devoted wife Paula, his loving daughters Sabrina and Sara, and his cherished grandchildren Paul and Beatrice. His sisters, Emily, Martha, and Missy, his brothers Eric and Philip, his mother Evelyn, and his daughters Lori and Rebecca survive him. He was predeceased by his son Kevin and father Raymond. But he was survived by everybody, for he seemed to know everybody. No matter the time or town, no matter the store, restaurant, or business, if you were out with Kenny you would be bound to meet one of his friends. He loved good friends, rare steaks, and fine bourbon. His cat, Cinnamon, loved the trout. Kenny and Paula had hoped for a spring Harley Road King trip to camp in Maine. But those thundering pipes have fallen silent and he has run his last road. Friends may call from 3-6 PM on Monday, February 22, 2021 at the Robert M King Funeral Home, 23 Church St. Granville, NY. A Masonic service will be held at 5:30 PM. Covid-19 regulations will be in place. Masks must be worn while in the funeral home. There is a limit of 55 people at a time in the building. There may be a wait to enter, we ask for your patience.

Sandy Mazier Lasch. Dec 24, 2021 - Brain Cancer. One of the most loving friends since we were 10 years old. We walked to school together every day. In the winter our legs were so cold because girls could not wear pants to school. Sandy and I won the Mini-Skirt contest the teachers had in High School our Freshman year. In our Sophomore year 1970, they allowed girls to wear pants ... I always thought the two of us had tipped the scales on that one!! We were Cheerleaders together. We had rubber boots when all our friends had leather boots up to their knees. Eventually, we would save up to get leather boots. When she moved to Albany to live with her sisters, I would visit.
She would teach me all the new dance steps. We could shop 3 malls in a day!! As we grew older the number of malls decreased significantly until we only counted the number of stores! LOL When Terrance was little he came to the farm to see the cows, he had a bucket of milk to feed the calves and ended up falling into the pail of milk when the calf went for the pail. Somewhere I have a picture of it. When Jonathan was born, I had just graduated and lived 4 nights a week with Sandy & Brian while I worked temp jobs in Albany. I got to feed Jonathan the 2am feeding on Mon, Tue & Thru nights. The list of things and memories goes on and on. I spoke with her this summer, and we talked about health ... but you never have any idea ... so every day is precious. She loved Brian and their boys, she loved the lake and their dogs, she loved her big family. She loved - she was loving, never a harsh word from her lips did I ever hear in the 55 years of our friendship. Heaven must have needed a new Angel for Christmas, and they certainly got a perfect one. I love you my Sandy Mazier Lasch. I'll keep all our memories, forever.

Jil MacMenamin spoke at Cathy's Life Celebration in May 2015
" Junior High is a growth spirt time for many girls. 7th and 8th grade when we were 12 & 13 years old. Cathy & I were the tallest girls in our class. Oh their may have been others .. but Cathy * I would constantly monitor each other to see who was tallest.
That is becuase in Hight School we were cheerleaders for all 4 years. We were constantly lined up by height so Cathy & I were together cheering, yelling, hugging and jumping around.
She would sign my yearbook with ... 'Don't forget this year of cheering', 'Next year we'll have more fun!', 'Don't ever forget .........' We were together in: Drama Club, Girls Athletic Association, Yearbook, Usherettes, Prom Committee and she was one of my Brides Maids.
And thru all the years, all the school activities, all the tryouts, practices, all the rehearsals, Cathy was there, encouraging, excited about life, smiling, cheering each other on ... I can't remember Cathy ever saying anything negative, mean or cruel - It wasn't in her, she didn't have a mean bone in her body.
Oh sure, life is not perfect and we had our share of tears, hurts and scares - But when the cry was over - I can see her using the palms of her hands to wipe her beautiful brown eyes, her lashes were so full and thick, she never had to worry about mascarra running!
Then she would fluff up her curls, give a big smile and we would head off to enjoy our next activity.
So I'm going to follow Cathy's example today, by drying my tears, fluff my hair, and always remember my Cheering Friend and Bridesmaid. I'll Give my Best Smile and Enjoy Life! "

Lavern was very much loved, and is deeply missed. He loved gardening, fishing, Neil Young, and his entire family. He has one son Clarence Jay Waters who is in the AirForce, and now has two grandaughters who he never met because of his passing. Lavern had a sense of humor that we all carry forward in his memory, we will always have many good memories.
