The Homotopy Theory Learning Group

The Homotopy Theory Learning Group organizes student discussions on new ideas and techniques that are essential for understanding recent trends and results in topology, geometry, quantum field theory, string theory, condensed matter theory, and computer science.

While sharing new ideas at the forefront of research and promoting collaboration, the group also assists newcomers and beginning students with grasping main ideas. As such, we warmly welcome all members of the Graduate Center's student body. The group has a marathon meeting every Tuesday. Beginning at 2pm in the Math Lounge (Room 4214), students attend and participate in the K-theory research group meeting (coordinated by Prof. Mahmoud Zeinalian). This meeting provides a unique and informal atmosphere in which any participant can lead the discussion while both students and faculty in attendance offer input and feedback. At 4:15pm all participants attend the class ``Topics in Homotopy Theory" which is taught by our faculty mentor and participant Prof. Martin Bendersky. After class we continue with an open ended informal discussion.

All meetings require no registration, and are open to all students at the Graduate Center.
