Big Ideas PowerPoint
I included this assignment because it demonstrated my ability to research, explain, and apply information about math instruction and junior age students. It involved defining Big Ideas and problem solving approaches, explaining why they are important, and how it would look when appropriately implemented in class.
Classroom Layout
I included this assignment because it required that I do quite a lot of research on what makes a junior classroom appropriate, and then create my own classroom based on that research. I was able to plan for each and every thing that my students could use both individually and within their learning community in order to be successful.
Double Entry Journal
I included this assignment because it shows my change in perspective regarding junior age students. Having a degree in Early Childhood Education, I am very familiar with learning theories and resources for primary students. This journal entry exemplifies how my thinking changed after reading, and therefore how my teaching practices would also change in order to be more appropriate.
Timetable
I included this assignment because it was eye-opening to see how much I would change in our current Year 3 timetable were it up to me. At the beginning of the school year I wouldn't have known to edit much, but after the readings when I sat down to make my own timetable I found myself making quite a lot of changes. Using the professional knowledge gained from the readings, I was able to make a more informed and efficient timetable.
