This unit is to introduce the basic concepts in chemistry which will help towards future understanding.

By the end of this unit you will:

- Distinguish between elements, compounds and mixtures, physical and chemical properties, and physical and chemical changes

-  List & convert between the common metric units used in chemistry

- Name the most commonly used metric prefixes and their numerical equivalents

- Express answers in scientific notation and to the correct number of significant figures

- Describe how measurements are taken and estimated

- Use equations and graphs to solve problems
