HistoryThis 1969 Bolens 1050 Garden Tractor was originally used in the kibbutz for mowing, plowing, operating implements, and other various tasks.
After about 20 years of service it died and went to tractor heaven(Kindergarten play yard), where I had played with it during my first years.
Somewhere in 2004 I got an engine from a friend, it was a 150cc Gasoline Engine from a Lawn Edge Cutter.
ProcessFirst was the job of getting everything to move. After many years of weather abuse and slow diffusion of the parts this wasn't the easiest task.
With my trusty friend WD40, a steel wire brush, and an air pistol the parts were back to their youth in one week's time.
After learning and undestanding all of the structure and mechanisms I set to fitting the engine, which required fabricating new mounts, fitting pullies, and rebuilding the whole clutch assembly.
Later I went on to replacing the carburetor(Required fabricating a sealed adapter),
and then to make a mount for the gas tank.
After about two weeks work(I was studying in high school at the time) I was done!
And the test drive was smoother than I ever expected.
About a year later I got a new 300cc 11HP Engine, a very welcomed addition, replacing the older 150cc engine(which later got a new life in the Mobility Scooter called Kalnoit). After having the experience, fabrications and adjustments(Mounts, pullies, tuning, etc.) came easy. In a few days the tractor had 11 roaring horse-powers to it's disposal, running in a speed of 20mph.
