The Club offers the following specialised training which can be aranged at times to suit:
SCHOOL HOLIDAYS COURSES
The Club runs training courses during the school holidays for students and parents and others interested. The additional petrol required to come from Perth or further afield to Morawa is more than offset by the savings in aerotow costs of learning to fly a glider closer to Perth. Training can commence prior to age 15 so as soon as students reach 15 they are eligible to go solo once they meet the required flying standards.Parents need to come along to supervise their children below 18 years of age. Accomodation for courses can be at the local caravan park or Chalets/B & B type accomodation. See the facilties page of our web site.
The next course runs from the 6th to 14th of July 2013. Places are filling fast and bookings are required. Bookings can be done from the Costs page of our website and payments by Paypal.
AB INITIO
To train those with little experience of flying to solo stage. Depending on how concentrated your learning is, your age is a rough guide to how many launches you can expect to need before you go solo, ie someone 20 years of age may go solo in as little as 20 launches however someone 60 years of age should expect to need at least 60 launches. Most people need a fair portion of the day to refresh their skills from last time if they have had a break so if you can do your learning in blocks of one week you will progress rapidily. If you only fly one day at a time and have gaps of say 1 month at a time your progress will be very slow and the number of launches you need to go solo be very high.
ACCELERATED PRE SOLO TRAINING
To provide intensive low cost training for those part way through their training at the southern clubs who find progress at weekend training slow or difficult to get to their local club each weekend.
INSTRUCTOR TRAINING
The club's CFI and the facilities are available for those pilots nominated by their club for basic and other instructor training.
POST SOLO
To train post solo pilots in the various aspects needed to progress through their gliding career.
WINCH AND AUTO LAUNCH ENDORESEMENTS
Available to early solo pilots up to advanced cross country pilots and instructors to familiarise and qualify them for winch and auto launching.
CROSS COUNTRY TRAINING
To train cross country interested pilots either by lead and follow or in a double seater. Lead and follow mid-week cross country training is available in wintertime.
The training is carried out on published courses that regularly run in addition to each Sunday. This training using winch or auto launch is very economical as winch launching is $ 10 a launch compared to approximately $ 40 for aerotow.
