Charities we support

We support a variety of charities throughout the year. Our main charities are Children in Distress, Washington Foodbank and The Salvation Army

The Washington Community Food Project is a volunteer run food bank covering the whole of Washington, Tyne & Wear as well as Springwell.

They are an independent charity and do not have paid staff. They rely on the goodwill of the community to volunteer and provide emergency food parcels to people who need them.

We have a collection box in the entrance hall at church

The Charity is dedicated to helping suffering children in the Balkans and Eastern Europe. They work with the sick, the incurably and terminally ill, those with HIV AIDS or Autistic Spectrum Disorders, the physically handicapped and those who face a daily challenge for life as result of accident, infection, genetic or birth defects, those who daily face discrimination or religious persecution, the socially excluded, the desperate and disadvantaged children and families, the poorest of the poor.

We sponsor two children at Children in Distress, Cristina and Cristiana.

Children in Distress have a calendar available for 2021.

They also have "gifts from the heart" a selection of gifts that support the charity.

The Salvation Army has a long history of working with people who are vulnerable and marginalised across the world and offer very practical help, unconditional assistance and support regardless of race, religion, gender or sexual orientation. http://www.salvationarmy.org.uk

In December we have a special service where we accept toys and gifts on behalf of the Salvation Army, they are then distributed to local children as Christmas presents.
