29th March 2020: Karen Swan / Marshlander / The Rose Haunts CANCELLED due to Covid-19
Karen Swan
Karen Swan has been described as 'Awesome!' by Boris Pelekh of Gogol Bordello and 'A punky Joni Mitchell and a grungy Kate Bush with a touch of avant-garde' by Johnny Kowalski {and the Sexy Weirdos}
She is also an actor writer and clown and has performed worldwide.
Marshlander
Marshlander picked up his pencil and started writing songs again about ten years ago after a thirty year dry spell. Never one to rush he released a first album, “Head Above Water”, in 2019. The layered textures in the lyrics reflect a life split between living on a narrowboat in the Fens and with his French partner in the Alps. A number of recurring themes emerge from the semi-autobiographical and darkly-humoured writing railing against a life lived the wrong-way round and often in the wrong country.
In performance Marshlander accompanies his songs on guitar, harmonica and foot-operated drum kit. File under mono-band, acoustic agit-folk, protest, chanson.
The Rose Haunts
The Rose Haunts are a female-fronted acoustic duo from the South Lincolnshire area. Concentrating on building a strong portfolio, of modern to the more road-worn covers, they bring a simple, stripped back tone to popular songs.
The duo are currently working on reworking a number of 1940s songs in preparation for local shows celebrating the 75th VE Day, have a number of yet-to-be-showcased originals in addition to being selected to be the opening act for Saturday of Bourne Festival 2020.
