2017 Outlook

We are anticipating the conditions to be less than average due to the cool growing season. Expect conditions to be more "wild" like, in that good picking will have to be discovered and the availability is not predictable. The ripening rate cannot be estimated. Ripening takes time and depends on when the blossoms were pollinated. Pollination effectiveness and timing is influenced by the weather (temperatures and rain) and populations of pollinators. We noticed fewer pollinators in the fields this year, so it may have taken longer and the weather was cooler, so the pollinators work slower.

There are berries. They seem to have good flavor.

We remain concerned about pests, as we do not spray. We have no plans to spray, so it is up to pickers to inspect the crop.
