Under the direct supervision of the public library board of trustees, the library director is responsible for the operations of the library and the development and implementation of its service program, including: assisting the board with long-range planning and policy development, and managing all library resources; organizing the acquisitions, access, storage, and control of collections; designing and implementing services and programs for users of all ages; and overseeing the maintenance and safety of the library building and grounds. The library director hires and supervises all staff and volunteers who work in the library.

Knowledge of all circulation desk functions
Shelving and maintaining collections with both alphabetical and numerical systems
Operating the Square point-of-sale system and cash drawer to receive payment for fees
Prompt and professional phone mannerism
Comfortable with Microsoft office systems and Google suite for patron assistance on computers.
Comfortable with operating a variety of office equipment including copy/fax machines.
Able to communicate respectfully and compassionately to determine the needs of library patrons.
Physical Requirements
The work environment consists primarily of indoor activities. Employees should be able to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. Must be able to inspect labels and titles to organize materials. Must be able to move books and/or cartons of books weighing up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis and must be able to move books up to 10 pounds on a regular basis. The ability to position the body at different angles is required to restock the shelves and to assist customers with finding their requested materials.
All employees must have reliable transportation to and from work. Some positions may require use of personal vehicles to travel to training or outreach sites.
