Your Library provides State of Tennessee notary services free of charge. At this time, the Library is only able to offer English language notary services.
Not all staff are notaries, so it is recommended to call ahead to be sure a notary is available and that your document falls under our notarization policy. If you have any questions regarding the notary process, please call (731) 855-1991 before arrival.
Documents to be notarized. Have all documents complete and unsigned. If additional certificates of Jurat or Acknowledgment are required, please come prepared with them.
A valid government-issued photo ID. Paper temporary copies will not be accepted.
Anyone whose signature appears on the documents to be notarized must be present; each signer must have a valid identification (see above).
Witness(es), if applicable. If your legal document requires witnesses, you must bring witnesses with you.
If your legal document requires witnesses, you must bring witnesses with you. Library staff are not permitted to act as witnesses on your behalf. It is against library policy to solicit other library guests to act as witnesses.
The Library does not notarize the following document types:
Medallion Signature Guarantees (sometimes referred to as Gold Medallion Stamps)
I-9 Forms – Homeland Security Employment Eligibility Verification
Auto titles without buyer address and name (state law requires this section be completed, regardless of circumstance)
Passport renewals
Home Mortgages or refinancing documents
Any document that the notary is uncomfortable notarizing
