Super-confined films

- ANR project with G. Dietze, N. Grenier, S. Mergui and Air Liquide (G. Mougin) -

Gas-liquid interfacial waves in extremely confined channels (millimetric).

By means of a low-dimensional film model and direct numerical simulations, we study the effect of confinement on solitary waves, in order to intensify interfacial heat and mass transfer whilst avoiding flooding of the channel.

Main findings: oscillatory and catastrophic secondary instability of solitary waves on super-confined falling liquid films.
