Email July 2nd -30-Hour Ultra Wait List

July 2, 2023

Happy 4th of July!  It’s hard to believe that summer is getting going with all the rain we’ve been getting in New England.  However, before you know it the leaves will be turning colors, pumpkins will become orange, and the ghosts and ghouls will be wandering the Ghost Train trails in the dinner time darkness.  We are excited to bring you another amazing weekend of running and fun in 2023!

You are on the wait list for the 2023 30-Hour Ultramarathon and hopefully your training is going well.  Questions about the wait list are very frequent this time of year.  Obviously, everyone wants to know if they are going to get in or not.  I hope to answer a few questions that you may have.  But first…

On July 4th, I will be adding 25 more spots to the 30-Hour Ultramarathon, which will bring some of you into the race and off the wait list.  You can check where you are on the wait list by going to the UltraSignup waitlist page and clicking on the “30hrs” link right below the picture.  Once these spots are added, you will get an email from UltraSignup where you will confirm that you want to get on the train!  Please reply to this email in a timely fashion.

Traditionally the wait list has started moving in the late July and August timeframe, so if you don’t get in this week, please keep training and be patient.  You can check the wait list and where you are on it at any time by going to UltraSignup and checking the wait list.  As spots open in the race, the next in line on the wait list will receive an email confirming their entry.  Please keep an eye out – we want to provide adequate time if you’re on vacation, etc., but we won’t keep waiting on you for weeks on end.  (That’s not fair to the rest of the wait list!)  We have been able to clear the wait list before the race every year, so please don’t give up hope.  Keep training.  Be positive.  And keep being awesome!

If you haven’t visited our web site lately, we have continued to add information, including videos of the course, course records and participation dating back to 2009, and of course the handbook which covers all the questions you may have!  (Or at least I hope it does!). If you have questions please don’t hesitate to reach out to me at ghosttrainrace@gmail.com or post/comment on our Facebook page.

Volunteer signups will open by the end of July.  Please keep an eye out on Facebook and our web site for more information!  We couldn’t put on Ghost Train without our generous volunteers, so please consider asking a friend or family member to help with a shift.  They get a front row seat to the race when volunteering!

Have a great July and watch for another runner email in August.
