Silvacarbon is a flagship program implementing the United States’s strategy to support developing countries in reducing emissions from deforestation and degradation. The Silvacarbon program, in partnership with the Global Forest Observation Initiative (GFOI), is currently conducting a series of training workshops with a wide variety of topics related to REDD+.
GFOI has developed a resource called REDDcompass, which is a web-based platform that allows users to work progressively through key issues, concepts and actions of REDD+ Systems. This training is intended to introduce resources to allow participants from the institutions involved in the development of the National REDD+ Strategy in Cameroon to disseminate knowledge and train others involved in REDD+.
Resources available at: http://www.gfoi.org/reddcompass
The objective of the workshop is to familiarize users with the REDDcompass online platform, complete the MRV checklist and identify future training needs. After completing the workshop, participants in Cameroon will understand how the REDDcompass platform can be used to prioritize activities, evaluate technical information and guidance, training needs, and develop a priority workplan. Participants are expected to learn to use REDDcompass in support of the implementation of the national REDD + MRV strategy and share this experience with other stakeholders.
