About Us

Jacky Theobald

My name is Jacky. I have lived in this parish of ours the majority of my adult life, including the seeing of Roadford Lake planned and constructed. Change is sometimes not a bad thing, as long as it is done carefully with forethought and sympathy.

I raised two sons, here along with my husband Clive and my mother Joan. The latter two people now sadly dead. Recently retired I have taken to living with a dog, a parrot and a cat so life is definitely not sedentary and full of surprises.

My professional life was in management especially retail sales and developing young people in that area as well as more senior people.

Apart from my family, the most pleasing side of my life has been in involved in volunteering where I ended up supporting adults and young people, locally, regionally, nationally and internationally. I was part of a group during the late 1970's 80's and 90's who developed Beaver Scouting in the UK and beyond. I have also had the privilege of representing the country through Scouting so opportunities in volunteering can take you anywhere!

Having retired I felt it was about time I gave back to my own community, who have nurtured and supported my family over the years. I am also proud to be a member of the village hall committee, another important part of our village life.

I hope that I am approachable and empathetic to the current and future needs of the parish. I would like to start a long term project on making Jubilee Woods a more positive and used amenity within the parish. Any ideas on funding, practical or professional support, or the future of this space are most welcome. Our parish, our home, we deserve the best we can get!

Andy Pullinger

It has been a lifetime plan of my wife and myself to live in the country and last year we were able to put that plan into action. I am really pleased that we found ourselves a house in Germansweek. I am married to Claire and we have two children named Lucy and Scott, they live in London and Witney. Before retiring I was working as a mechanical engineer and ended my career working in health and safety. My focus nowadays is looking after our garden in Germansweek and my interest in nature. We are enjoying the chance to grow our own fruit and vegetables and visit the lovely local countryside.

I am happy to be able to support you all in the capacity of Parish Councilor and to represent the interests of the whole community - If you have any parish concerns please feel free to contact me in person or by letter or by email.

Carlie Walker

Carlie Walker: I moved to Germansweek with my husband Ben a few years ago from Exeter. It was a big change in lifestyle but the best decision. We now have two lovely Labradors, Monty and Nacho, who love food!...maybe even more than me! For a big part of my working career I’ve been a manager in retail. However, after moving out to the country I now work part time in a local farm shop. I enjoy photography and having 2 dogs that need walking daily gives me plenty of opportunity to get out with the camera. I tend to focus on nature photography but do enjoy capturing my family life. I also enjoy DIY which having moved into a barn conversion has given me lots of scope to get stuck in. I joined Germansweek parish council so I could immerse myself in village life more and try to make positive changes. It’s been nice getting to know my fellow councillors and the villagers. I am councillor for events, so if you have any ideas for community events do get in touch.carlielowe@live.co.uk
