"Painting is what I do."
This quotation from Edwin Mullins' documentary, “Engine of Revolution”, sums up my own philosophy and approach to painting. I like to think that my pictures are part of an evolutionary process and continuous tradition.

The foundation for my ideas, aspirations and paintings have come from what I have discovered and analysed from the development of the European landscape tradition in painting over the last three centuries. It has been romanticism, realism, all aspects of impressionism, late nineteenth and early twentieth century painting that are my main influences and sources of reference. I have also tried to incorporate the essence of their objectives and ideals in some way at all times. In later years my work has tended to move towards even more non-representional modes of painting using plane geometric figures infused with abstract impressionist overtones.
