Fields of Study
Structural Geology, Tectonics, Geomorphology, Thermochronology
Research Interests
I conduct research in broadly defined structural geology, tectonics and geomorphology in continental collision and subduction zone settings, mainly from four perspectives: (1) regional tectonic histories and neotectonics, (2) mechanisms of 3D structural accommodation and partitioning, (3) the interaction between tectonics and earth surface processes, and (4) rock rheology and geomechanics. I employ traditional geological research methods such as geologic mapping, structural analysis, balanced cross-section construction, sediment provenance analysis, and geomorphologic survey, as well as computing and interdisciplinary methods, including 3D structural modeling, geochronology and thermochronology of a wide range of temporal scales, and numerical modeling techniques in various fields (geodynamics, thermokinematics, and landscape evolution).
