Each and every situation in the World (as well as in our private backyard) has several layers. Things may look simple enough when seen on the surface. But "truth does not reside on the surface of things" (N. Parton, source). To pacify does not mean to solve a problem. The true change goes deeper and addresses the causes of conflict. Upon a closer examination of causes of the turmoil, we may discover that there is an injustice that requires change; the change, in turn, is a long and slow process. Finally, we may also realize that the the true change is even deeper than the social change; it moves our deepest self.
The triad below illustrates deeper and deeper levels of change: from universal human rights, through social justice, to personal growth.
