With the Amulets and Talisman series I salvaged foam, plastics and cardboard materials from discarded packing boxes, that I then orchestrate into casting forms for which I pour concrete into. Once hardened and removed, a new positive form emerges. The final sculptures are powerful reminders of our consumer driven economy, and these newly created, permanent “cast offs” serve to ward off evil and offer protection to those that posses them." “In my work there is a push and pull between nature and mans place in nature… the natural world or society and cultures we build …objects of beauty either man-made or natural … things that man battles internally, the body and mind or forces faced in the external world. …I struggle to manipulate and explore materials. In these explorations I attempt to orchestrate and create new works of art that pay homage to our social and ecological failures and successes. ” Joseph Gargasz Joe Gargasz Gargaszart Studio 211 Studio 306 Joseph F.
