Creating and interpreting personal maps can be a useful teaching and learning strategy for different reasons:
1. It provides real contexts to practise the language of directions (eg. "Turn right", "Go ahead", "Go past the hotel...") and location (eg. "The hospital is opposite the park", "The library is between the park and the river").
2. It provides real information to support the description of tours, trips, etc. when doing project work.
3. It can promote and support different activities related to maths, geography, history... in CLIL approaches.
