I Can Tell
This school and community-based program brings important messages to young children to prevent child sexual abuse. As the name suggests, the goal of the thirty minute program is to break the secrecy around abuse by teaching children they can tell, and by encouraging parents, adults, teachers, and others to listen and act on behalf of a child victim of sexual abuse.
The Darkness to Light/Stewards of Children program is a two-hour workshop to help teach parents, teachers and other caring adults specific ways to protect children from sexual abuse. The important program includes survivor stories, expert guidance, and group discussion to deliver practical, applicable steps for protecting children.
While we may never be able to completely prevent child abuse, when the secrecy around sexual abuse is reduced, and children and adults are empowered to respond pro-actively, children at-risk or actually being abused will be less likely to suffer the trauma and long-term social and emotional consequences that result from repeated victimization.
