Jonathan Drake, DMA

Jonathan began his musical leadership of the Ford Motor Company Chorus in 2007. He earned a Bachelor of Music degree in Choral Music Education- Voice “with Distinction” from The University of Michigan and a Master of Music degree in Choral Conducting Performance from Bowling Green State University. Jonathan also earned a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Choral Music from Arizona State University.

Prior to graduate studies, he taught elementary vocal music and high school choral music in several public school districts in Michigan. Jonathan is currently Professor and Director of Vocal Studies at Schoolcraft College where he conducts the Collegiate Chorale and teaches courses in music appreciation, American popular music, music theory, humanities, vocal pedagogy and private studio lessons.

He has sung professionally with the Kenneth Jewell Chorale, Detroit Lutheran Singers, Ars Musica, Ann Arbor Cantata Singers, Michigan Opera Theater Chorus, Detroit Symphony Chorus, Men and Boys Choir of Christ Church Grosse Pointe and Toledo Masterworks Chorale. Jonathan recently retired from the professional choral staff at Kirk in the Hills where he served for over 15 years as tenor section leader and countertenor soloist.
