Flora & fauna of Foote Sanctuary

Buderim Mountain native plants lists

When the Foote Sanctuary Association started, the land (post-logging and plantation farming) was in some areas an impenetrable tangle of invasive species.

The work to regenerate the land with species indigenous to the area first required thorough research to find out what was indigenous to the area. Finding seeds and seedlings for these plants in the 70s wasn't easy.

Wildlife residents

Many birds, reptiles, insects and some small mammals live or visit the Sanctuary.

Identifying & removing weeds

Work continues to remove invasive species from the Sanctuary in order to let those native plants seed, grow and thrive.

Wherever you live, please make sure you aren't allowing these weeds to grow and set seed in our reserves.
