Epidemiology
The stomach is the most common site for lymphoma in the gastrointestinal tract.
More than 50% of affected patients have anemia.
Peak incidence is in the sixth and seventh decades.
The disease is more common in males.
Mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT)
Gastric submucosa does not normally contain lymphoid tissue.
H. pylori infection is believed to be a causal factor for MALT.
Low-grade MALT resembles Peyer patches.
