James Boyett is a native of Hamilton, Alabama. He attended Itawamba Community College in Fulton, Mississippi, and performed with the ICC All-American Marching Band, the ICC Concert Band, the ICC Symphonic Band, and the ICC Jazz Band. In 2002, James transferred to The University of North Alabama, where he completed his Bachelors degree in music education in December 2005, and his Master of Arts in Music Education in July 2009. While attending the University of North Alabama, he performed with the UNA Pride of Dixie Marching Band, the UNA Concert Band, and the UNA Wind Symphony, the Shoals Symphony Orchestra, as well as the UNA brass ensemble, and trombone quartet. In 2006, Mr. Boyett was hired as the band director of Hubbertville School in Fayette County, Alabama. He worked there for three years before taking the job as band director at Leroy High School. Mr. Boyett is a member of the Alabama Music Educators' Association, the National Association for Music Educators, the Alabama Educators' Association, and the National Educators' association. A member of the band since 2009, Mr. Boyett was named as Director of the Flying Bricks in December of 2014.
