Since Maker Faire starts so shortly after school begins in September, there are some things for participating teams to think about before school ends.
- Don't disassemble the robot.
- Get school permissions. Some schools require 30 days notice which won't be physically possible between when school starts and Maker Faire.
- Think about which robot(s) you want to bring. If you have FTC bots, they are excellent because people can drive them. For FRC bots, think about what is most interesting to demo vs what came most recently. For example, Lunacy and Breakaway are more accommodating to demo in public than Logomotion. No brittle tubes or dangerous minibot.
- Which slot would you like. We are asking teams to volunteer for one day this year. The plan is to spend half a day at the booth and half seeing Maker Faire. (ideally carrying a minibot/FTC/FLL bot or a sign "ask me about FIRST robotics.)
- How are you getting your robot to Maker Faire? Norm will not be running a robot taxi this year. You need to be able to bring the robot to participate or pair up with another team that can help you.
- Saturday FRC teams deliver their robot Friday evening or early Saturday morning and take it home Saturday or Sunday. after Maker Faire ends.
- Sunday FRC teams deliver their robot Friday evening or early Sunday morning and take it home Sunday after Maker Faire ends.
- FLL/FTC teams with larger items like a table have the same delivery windows. The actual robots can be carried in when you come.
