First Grade News

Dear Parents,

These last several weeks of school are always a whirlwind.  Our MAP & DIBELS testing will begin next week. Final reports will be sent home with report cards after school is out.  Your child is so much more than a test score, but we do want to give them every opportunity to do their best.  It is helpful if students can get a good night’s rest and eat a good breakfast, along with your encouraging words.

We are working on arrangements for several end of the year plans and field trips.  Let me know if you are interested in attending.  More information will be coming home soon.

We will tie-dye shirts on May 31.  Please send a new (or nearly new) white cotton t-shirt marked on the collar or hem with your child’s name (in sharpe please).  Please bring shirts by May 29.  If you’d like to volunteer to help with tie-dying, please let me know.  Thanks!

In order to have a little fun and reinforce our phonics skills, we will be doing a number of fun activities as we round out the school year.  I know it is such a busy time, so I’m including a calendar on the back to help.  Please keep it handy to refer as needed. I’ll do my best to include everything, but I’m sure more things could come up.  😊

SNACKS:

Please remember to send in a class snack for the month of May. With all of the testing coming up, it would be nice to have some high protein snacks/fruits & vegetables, meat and cheese, etc.  We do have a small fridge in the classroom. Thanks so much!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Poppema
