Dear Parents,
Welcome to first grade! My name is Mrs. Poppema, and I am looking forward to getting to know you and having a wonderful year together. First, I’d like to let you know a little about myself. I grew up in Oklahoma, but I have lived in Montana for 25 years. I graduated from the University of Montana and Lesley University. This will be my 22nd year of teaching in Corvallis. I have a son named Aimmon, who will be in first grade and two step-daughters, Kaelan (24) and Ryen (17). I have had a fun and busy summer with my family and friends. I hope you have enjoyed your summer too!
We will be having a Meet & Greet on August 27 from 2-4. This will be a time for you to drop off supplies and see our classroom. Our room is located in the wing of the school directly across from the Corvallis Community Church in Room 25 (east of the Kindergarten Building). It is the first room on the right when you walk in the north doors. If you’re unable to come, you can bring your items on the first day of school, September 3.
Please label starred items with your child’s name. The other items are shared in our classroom:
* A backpack- brought to school each day
* 1 small plastic pencil box (to store markers)
* 2 boxes of 24 crayons
* 2 boxes of markers
* 1 pair of 5” scissors
4 glue sticks
1 set of Crayola watercolor paints (Crayola paints work much better than RoseArt)
1 bottle Elmer’s glue (4 oz.)
A healthy class snack (plan for 20 students)
*Please bring a picture of your family or of yourself doing something fun this summer. 😊
*Optional classroom supplies/wishlist- paper plates or bowls, pink pearl erasers, Kleenex, plastic forks or spoons, gallon size ziplock bags. If you are able to contribute one of these items, it would be appreciated. Back to school time can be very expensive, so please don’t feel obligated.
I am very excited about the year ahead, and I really look forward to seeing you! Please let me know if you have any questions!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Poppema
