Training in classical bujutsu

TSKSR iaijutsu

Unlike the better known martial forms, the bujutsu are not for everyone, and training in these arts should not be undetertaken lightly. The classical weapons arts of the samurai are difficult to learn, and a huge amount of effort is required by instructors to teach a student in the beginning stages of training. Moreover, because these warrior traditions date back hundreds of years, we feel a strong obligation to maintain the integrity of transmission.

SMR kihon

Acquiring and maintaining skill in classical combatives requires a lifetime of dedicated commitment, consistent effort, and considerable sacrifice in terms of time. For all these reasons, admissions requirements are more stringent and expectations of students more demanding than for the typical martial art taught in this country. The koryu are generally not appropriate for children or adolescents, so the minimum age we will consider is 18 years.
