Randomizer Options and Flags Explained

Hint Type:

  • Normal - These are the normal game hints

  • Helpful - These hints will tell you useful information about where a dungeon or item is. See here for a more detailed explanation

  • Community - Hints made up by the community consisting of random funnies, super long texts, pay door trolls and dank memes

  • Deception - Hints like those in the helpful option, but with a 50% chance they are false.

  • Mixed - A combination between helpful and community hints.

Overworld Quest

  • 1st Quest - 1st Quest Overworld as seen here

  • 2nd Quest - 2nd Quest Overworld as seen here

    • Mixed - A combination of 1st and 2nd Quest Overworld locations - good luck

    • Random - One of the thee above options

  • 1st Quest - 1st Quest Dungeons

  • 2nd Quest - 2nd Quest Dungeons

  • Mixed - A combination of 1st and 2nd Quest Dungeons

Caves Tab

  • Shuffle Caves

    • If selected, all cave entrances will be shuffled

  • Whistle to New Dungeons

    • If selected, recorder will take you to the new randomzed dungeon locations, otherwise they stay the same as the overworld quest you are doing.

  • Shuffle Wood Sword Cave

    • If selected, the wood sword cave will be shuffled into the list.

  • Shuffle "Take Any Road" Caves

    • If selected, the "Take Any Road" caves will be shuffled into the list.

  • Change Start Screen

    • If selected, the screen Link starts on will be randomly place on the overworld.

Shops Tab

  • Shuffle Shop Items

    • If selected, the items in shops will be shuffled, as will their prices

  • Extra Candles

    • If selected, the blue candle will be available in the wood sword cave, as well as the "Take Any You Want" caves

  • Change Sword Hearts

    • If selected, the hearts required for the White Sword will be shuffled between 4-6 hearts, and the Magical Sword between 10-14 hearts

  • Change MMG

    • If selected, the prize money for the MMG will be shuffled

  • Change Bomb Upgrades

    • If selected, the bomb upgrade cost will be between 75 - 125 rupees and will give 2-6 bombs

  • Shuffle Armos

    • If selected, the Power Bracelet "spot" will be shuffled among the five screens where armos hide stairs (PB, Blue Ring, South East of 5, East of 2 and North-North East of 8. Also, the will be shuffled to a random armos on the top row.

Dungeons Tab

  • Shuffle Dungeon Items

    • If selected, the items inside dungeons will be shuffled

  • Shuffle Bracelet

    • If selected, the Power Bracelet will be shuffled with the dungeon items and a random dungeon item will be in the Power Bracelet spot

  • Shuffle Ladder Heart

    • If selected, the heart on the coast (which you need the ladder to get) will be shuffled with the dungeon items and a shuffled item will take it's spot

  • Shuffle White Sword

    • If selected, the White Sword will be shuffled with the other items

  • Force RR/SA to 9

    • If selected, Red Ring and Silver Arrows will be found in Level 9 only

  • Shuffle Dungeon Drops

    • If selected, dungeon drops (Triforce, Heart, Keys, Map, Compass, Bombs, Rupees, Floor Items in Level 1 and 2) will be shuffled

  • Shuffle Dungeon Text

    • If selected, Levels 1-8 will have their dungeon text shuffled (so the text normally found in Level 1 may appear in Level 7, etc.)

  • Allow Other Items to Block 9

    • If selected, the old man guarding Level 9 may require a different item than the Triforce to enter

  • Randomize Dungeon Rooms

    • If selected, dungeon rooms may consist of any other dungeon room in the game

  • Shuffle Dungeon Rooms

    • If selected, rooms and doors in each dungeon will be shuffled, but the same overall shape will remain

  • Force Ganon Fight

    • If selected, you must kill Ganon prior to being able to save Zelda

  • Unlock Level 9

    • If selected, the old man guarding Level 9 will not be there, allowing for early exploration of Level 9

  • Allow Important Items in 9

    • If selected, "Important" items (Bow, Ladder, Recorder, Power Bracelet, Raft) may be found in Level 9

  • Shuffle Dungeon Start Room

    • If selected, Levels 1-8 will have their start screen changed as well as the dungeon number hidden

  • Shuffle Dungeon Palettes

    • If selected, Levels 1-8 will have their palettes shuffled

  • Shuffle Hungry Goriya

    • If selected, the Hungry Goriya can be shuffled to a random level and room (currently only available for 1st Quest)

  • Shuffle Bomb Upgrade Men

    • If selected, the Bomb Upgrade Men can be shuffled into a random Level from 1-8 (currently only available for 1st Quest)

Monsters Tab

  • Shuffle Overworld Monsters

    • If selected, overworld monsters will be shuffled

  • Shuffle Dungeon Monsters

    • If selected, dungeon monsters will be shuffled

  • Shuffle Ganon and Zelda

    • If selected, Ganon and Zelda will be shuffled in Level 9, if not, they will be in their original rooms

  • Randomize Enemy HP

    • If selected, HP for enemies will be shuffled to within +/- 4 wood sword hits of normal

  • Set Most Enemy HP to 0

    • If selected, most enemy HP will be set to zero (not bosses)

  • Set Boss HP (not Ganon) to 0

    • If selected, boss HP will be set to zero (except for Ganon)

  • Shuffle Monsters Between Levels

    • If selected, Level 1-8 will have monsters that may not be normally found in those levels

  • Shuffle Level 9 Monsters

      • If slected, the monsters in Level 9 can come from any set

  • Shuffle Bosses

    • If selected, Level 1-8 will have bosses that may not be normally found there

  • Randomize Boss HP

    • If selected, HP for bosses (Aquamentus, Manhandla, Gleeok, Digdogger, Gohma, Moldorm, Lanmola and Ganon) will be shuffled to within +/- 4 wood sword hits of normal

  • Set Ganon HP to 0

    • If selected, Ganon's HP will be set to zero

Misc Tab

  • Fun %

    • If selected, all item sprites (and a couple of others) will be replaced by the same sprite. Technical gameplay will not be affected

  • Sprite Shuffle

    • If selected, all sprites of your items will be replaces with another randomly chosen sprite. Gameplay will not be affected otherwise

  • Swordless

    • If selected, the only sword available will be the wood sword in Level 9. White and Magical Sword will be replaced with bombs. This automtically selects the No Forced Ganon flag

  • Enable Item Swap with Select

    • If selected, you may use the Select button on the first controller to swap through items instead of having to use the menu

  • Replace Book Fire with Explosion

    • If selected, if you have both the Book and the Wand, it will explode on impact with the enemy instead of making a fire. The Book is found in the rare shop only with a cost of 200+ rupees and a Large Shield will be shuffled into the item list in it's place

  • OHKO

    • If selected, any hit that would damage you will kill you

  • Shuffle Music

    • If selected, the overworld and dungeon music will be shuffled

  • Disable Music

    • If selected, no music will play during the game. Sound effects will still play

  • Blackout

    • If selected, the dungeons will be pitch black, making it virtually impossible to see aside from a bomb explosion and knowing the rooms

  • Print Quest Info

    • If selected, a log file will be printed on what items are where. Note: This will be a DIFFERENT ROM than if you left this unchecked

  • Link Sprite

    • Change what sprite Link is played as

  • Starting Tunic Color

    • Change what tunic color Link starts with
