Our 1979 Mercedes-Benz O305 bus, which used to be Auckland Regional Authority No. 1580 is used to do occasional Charter work, in accordance with our objectives, offering services to local charities and other groups. We need volunteers to operate this service and the income will not only maintain the bus but contribute towards our Museum and our other charitable work.
We require crew, that is drivers and conductors/hosts, to assist passengers on trips, excursions and charters.
In addition, we have work in our Museum helping to restore an old bus.
Volunteer work that you could help with includes the following:-
Bus Driving - We are looking for drivers with their Class 2 license and P-Endorsement, though it is permissible to undertake limited driving with just the Class two, being a volunteer driver (unpaid) assisting in the activities of an incorporated charitable organisation, which we are.
Bus Grooming - Another word for cleaning and tidying our bus so that we present a good image to our travelling public.
Mechanics - Help keep our bus in good nick and maybe also help with restoration work in our Museum.
Body Work - No, we haven't got a gym. This would be coach building in metal or wood, with restoration of old buses.
Administration - Taking bookings, handling our advertising, computer work with our Website and Facebook, accounts and day to day office type work.
To volunteer, please contact Ken Watson at chchbusmuseum@gmail.com, or phone 3557366
We now have a 1969 Ford R226 (x Midland Motors bus) which we are now restoring.
