Please use this list for Summer Studio Theory. Let me know what you have done each week.
1. Mn. Public Radio mpr classical radio 99.5 "Kids Corner" on Saturday mornings, Classical Kids Corner--listening and activities, "From the Top" (Sundays at noon, featuring talented young musicians). Write down a few things you learned and enjoyed.
2. Composing: Create freely; or use these ideas: create a melody of your own or use one from one of your pieces to create theme and variations, such as Major/minor, different meter, new key, different rhythm, change of accompaniment, put melody in other hand, different articulation, combination of any of these ideas. Staff paper can be downloaded from the web.
3. Google "music quotes" and write down the ones you like best.
4. Use online music dictionary to write down words you don't know from your music, or just to explore new music terms. "Musictionary Music Dictionary" $ .99 (3-1/2 star rating) or "Music Tools Music Dictionary" $2.99 (4-1/2 star rating). write down the term and definition.
5. Google information about the musical period of one of your pieces. Write down as much as you can in 15 minutes or spend longer for extra blue ribbon points)--Baroque, Classical, Romantic, Impressionist, Contemporary (Modern).
6. Download an interval app and play the games for 15+ minutes

7. Use Garage Band to create a music composition, as a possible soundtrack for a Silent Movie.
8. Research one of your pieces and write down what you find--Musical Period and how the culture of that time influenced the music, practice tips, chord names, etc.
9. Multimedia project, using artwork, music, dance, piano or other instrument.
