15.6 Putting Plans
To promote putting a Community Champion (CC) would be appointed to ensure that a wide section of the community benefit from the putting green. Most people can putt providing young and old with an incentive to take healthy exercise. To add to the fun competitions would be organised, along with theme days. Additionally the CC would target specific groups to encourage them to try and persevere at putting including the following.
1. Families: In spite of different ages and abilities, families can putt together - a healthy, social, family activity. Families would be encouraged by a cheaper ticket.
2. Local schools: Putting will encourage youngsters to take up golf. For golf to be sustainable, (crucial to the wellbeing of Prestwick), more youngsters need to take it up. Many local golfers say that their introduction to golf was putting at Prestwick. Youngsters would be offered tuition. A golfing Andy Murray in the making?
3. Retired: Combining putting with a coffee and a chat at a bargain price, would help to keep the elderly mobile and social.
4. Visitors: a competitive market, vital to the wellbeing of Prestwick, look for amenities on their days out. Being a CIC the money spent by visitors on putting will benefit the local Community.
