Sharing care with you & information on Tapestry learning journey

I aim to provide all children in my care with a clean, safe, loving, home-like environment where everyone feels valued. A vital part of this is working closely with other adults involved in caring for them.

A good working partnership can benefit all people involved but especially the children who will be happier and achieve more when their childcare providers and parents work together for common goals,

consistency and continuity of care.

A good partnership should start off with an understanding the child’s needs, interests and backgrounds. This information should be updated and change as the child grows and develops.

When I begin to care for your child it is the beginning of a partnership with you as the parents. Here are some of the ways in which we can share the care of your child.

  • I welcome children and families from all ethnic groups, cultures, religions and family groups. This includes children and their families who have English as an additional language.

· I will make sure that I actively promote equality of opportunity and anti-discriminatory practices for all children. I will make sure that I treat all children with equal concern and respect.

  • I aim to give positive images of other cultures using various methods, including celebrating different festivals and incorporating multicultural play into our themes and activities
  • Each child is valued as an individual without stereotyping. I challenge racist and discriminatory remarks, attitudes and behaviour from the children in my care and other adults.
  • I provide a good selection of multicultural toys and equipment, pictures and photographs of people from other countries and cultures.
  • No toys are just for girls or just for boys. I try to ensure my toys reflect positive images of children and people from different cultures and with different abilities. I have toys and resources that challenge stereotypical ideas on what careers are open to men and women.
  • I encourage the children to develop a healthy respect of each other’s differences and to value everyone as an individual.
