Knots and Surfaces: Introduction to Topology 2010-2011

Content: introduction to point set topology, classification of compact surfaces, 2-dimensional cell complexes and Euler characteristic, graphs and maps on surfaces, knots, polynomial knot invariants, homotopy, fixed point theorems and applications to economics.

Activities: lectures with occasional discussions, online discussion board, online quizzes, chocolates for finding mistakes in the lecture notes.
