Calculus for the Sciences I - 2011

Content: Basics of differentiation and integration of functions of one variable.

Course aim: relate calculus to real life.

Course outcomes: by the end of this course, a student should be able to

• solve real-life questions (text questions) from chemistry or physics that require calculus,

• calculate limits, derivatives, integrals,

• demonstrate understanding of concepts, rather than memorizing formulae, to be able to estimate limits, derivatives, integrals from functions' graphs.

Activities: lectures, tutorials with group discussions, online quizzes, online discussion board, clickers, computer labs, chocolates for finding mistakes in lecture notes.
