Hi and welcome to my online portfolio! Please feel free to browse around and get to know me and my experiences as an educator. I can be reached at fscheek@unm.edu for any questions and/or comments.
Miss Cheek has worked in Lydia Rippey Elementary School in Aztec, NM for 2 years. She first started as an educational assistant in special education- which she loved! She has also been involved in the Extended School Year (summer school for children with special needs) for two years and enjoys working with diverse learners. In January of 2018, Miss Cheek switched to a student teacher for hire and took over a 3rd grade classroom. When asked about her favorite moment of student teaching, Miss Cheek answered, "Hmm.. I actually have two favorite moments. My first was when my students were called 'Miss Cheek's kids' because that's the minute I really began to feel like a teacher! My other favorite moment was watching my students present their 'Famous American' projects and share their research with us. I felt so proud of them!"
