VW Split Window 1951 rebuilt to Typ 82E from late 40's
The idea behind this car is to have a car that looks exactly like the old military off road beetle but at the same time share all the benefits of the improvements done to the beetle later on. Therefore the following modifications done:
Synchronised VW T2 transmission, dual circuit hydraulic brake system, 45mm VW T2/T3 brake shoes and drums, post 67 type side members with heater channel ducts inside.
The rear axles are type 2 with reduction boxes. These have been thoroughly rebuilt and all the ball bearings and seals are renewed.
The front beam is the original 51, shoot-blasted and metalised, with all the bushings renewed. The spindles and king pins are original factory overhauled kubelwagen with typ 3 drums, brakes and back plates (all new VW parts).
All the other parts of the floor pan like torsion rubber bushings, emergency brake cables, petrol tubing, pedal assy etc has been restored and renewed.
