Minimum mode metadynamics (MM-META) is an efficient tool for exploring and calculating mutidimensional free energy surfaces and it is based on ideas derived from metadynamics and minimum mode following methods. The main purpose of MM-META is to follow easy slope pathways on a free energy landscape in order to visit new minima and transition states. Instead, most of the methods for free energy calculation like metadynamics, give rise to an uniform exploration of the space and thus if the latter has a high dimensionality they become very expensive.
