CR39 (allyl diglycol carbonate (ADC))
Advantages:
Good Optical quality
More shatter resistant than glass lenses
Lightweight
Accept tints easily with uniform grade colours
Disadvantages:
Require a scratch-resistance
20%-30% thicker than PC
Require a special coating for UV light
Polycarbonate(PC)
Advantages:
1. Excellent impact resistant (10 times than other lenses)
2. Thin, 20%-25% thinner than other
3. Lightweight, 20% lighter than plastic
4. Can blocks 100% UV without coating
Disadvantages:
1. More lens reflection
2. Requires scratching coating
3. Less clear in strong prescription power
Glass
Advantages:
1. Don’t need scratch coating
2. Excellent optical clarity
3. AR coating adheres to glass very well
Disadvantages:
1.At least twice of weight of other
2.Shatter than other lens easily
3.Require UV coating
4.Thicker than PC or high index plastic lenses
Trivex
Advantages:
1. Thin
2. Lightweight
3. Much more impact-resistant than regular plastic
or glass lenses
4. Crisper optics than injection-molded
polycarbonate lenses
Disadvantages:
1. Thicker than polycarbonate
(Lower refractive index than polycarbonate)
