06/02/2016 Do optimists see things more realistically than pessimists? Research is inconclusive and what ever differences there may be, if any, in achieving objectivity are probably small. On average, do optimists solve life's and societies problems better and have longer- healthier lives than pessimists ? Research here is conclusive , they certainly do and the differences are far from small. Off course all good mindsets have limits if you feel optimistic about cheating on an exam, running up credit card debt, invading Iraq etc., you would probably be wise to reexamine your thinking. I was discussing this with a client recently ( I am a psychotherapist) and thought I would share. In hindsight it is odd that a sight dedicated to optimism based on evidence would not explore more of the science on it. Better late than never. -best Matt
