Trudeau is destroying Canada. Scheer is playing it safe. Maxime Bernier offers the principled vision that Canada desperately needs. And PPC candidate Lee Harding has the skills, experience, and education worthy of an MP.

Abortion
Bernier made four tweets on abortion on May 28, 2019. In one, he reiterated (as he did during his Conservative leadership race), that he "would allow any MP to present a private member’s bill and have a debate." At that time, he also wrote, "Because of the legal void in Canada, you are allowed to get an abortion until the last trimester even without any reasonable motive. My personal view is that at this stage, when the baby is fully developed and viable, this amounts to infanticide."
Former 700 Club Canada host Laura-Lynn Thompson was the PPC's first candidate. In the video below, Thompson shares why she deeply appreciates Bernier. Thompson has been outspoken in her opposition to transgender ideology in schools and to late-term abortion. Bernier says he is fine with that, even though it will not be official PPC policy.
On her preborn.ca site, Thompson explains, "Even if the Protection of Preborn Children Act becomes law, it would still be one of the most permissive abortion laws in any Western country. Abortion would still be legal up until 24 weeks, and exceptions are there for cases where there has been sexual abuse of a minor, rape or where the woman’s health or life is in serious jeopardy."
Bernier's stance is much more tenable than that of the Conservative Leader. Andrew Scheer says he is pro-life and claims that MPs can speak freely about the issue, yet insists that his government would never allow legislation to restrict it, as the video below shows.
On October 1, 2019, Andrew Scheer said he would actually continue the $400 million annually that Trudeau had dedicated abroad to contraception and abortion, saying, "groups “that are receiving funding will continue to receive funding in the future."
Alissa Golob of Right Now wrote, "We, along with the majority of Conservatives, do not agree with Andrew Scheer’s decision to follow in Trudeau’s footsteps by continuing to fund organizations that illegal abortions.” But Scheer has ignored them.
Bernier has said that foreign aid will be restricted to real disasters and emergencies, not this kind of spending, nor even the $2.3 billion sent to Africa to "fight climate change."
Gender Identity
Bernier voted for Bill C-16 so that transgendered people would be protected from violence and hate. However, a conversation with Professor Jordan Peterson led Bernier to conclude in 2017 that Bill C-16 threatened free speech. Regarding sexual minorities, he wrote, "Some of these groups are not fighting for equality of rights and respect for sexual minorities. They are radical left-wing activists trying to deconstruct traditional social norms and impose their marginal perspective on everyone, including by forcing us to change the way we talk. And they seem to have an undue influence on campuses across North America, including here in Canada." Bernier has promised to repeal Bill C-16.
Andrew Scheer voted against Bill C-16. However, Vice reported in 2017, "When pressed on whether he’d repeal the law, once it becomes law, he refused to answer."
Conversion therapy
On August 15, 2019, the Liberals announced their intention to ban "conversion therapy," something that not only includes efforts to turn a homosexual towards heterosexuality, but to turn a cross-gender child into accepting their own biological sex. Churches that contravened this could lose their charitable status. Edmonton Liberal MP Randy Boissenault said, "But the reason you criminalize conversion therapy is so that we stamp it out, in the basements, in the backrooms, in the places where it’s happening unlicensed, so that people know that if you’re trying to change somebody’s sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression, you’re breaking the law and you should go to jail.” The article made clear this included those making such attempts in churches.
When Scheer was asked for a response, he said that he would "wait and see" for what legislation the Liberals tabled! Thompson is not waiting. Below, she interviews Ann Gillies, a PhD child psychologist who was yanked from a conservative nomination race in Ontario six weeks after she was approved, due to her adherence to traditional family values, including those on gender.
Can Canadians really count on the Conservatives to defend our children and religious freedom in Canada when they won't allow Gillies to run and they play "wait and see" with such threatening proposals?
I grew up near Lafleche but have also lived elsewhere in the constituency. I spent four years in Caronport and received a Bachelor of Arts from Briercrest College. Later, I lived in Assiniboia from 1997-01 and worked in the ag industry. Next, I earned a journalism degree at University of Regina and was a reporter for CBC, CTV, and Global. As Sask Director for the Canadian Taxpayers Federation (CTF), I successfully lobbied for lower taxes and less government waste. In 2010, I was Parliamentary Assistant to departing MP David Anderson. From 2011 to 2017 I travelled throughout the constituency and province as a fundraising rep for the CTF. I became friends with people across the constituency and helped them to change Ottawa.
I earned a Master of Public Policy at the U of Calgary in 2016, then wrote and researched for the Frontier Centre for Public Policy. I stepped down to run for MP. I have two daughters and live in Swift Current.
In 2015, the Conservatives won the riding with 69% of the vote, while the Liberals got 15%, and NDP 13%. Trudeau cannot win here.
There is no downside to voting for me. If I win, I will represent you well. If I lose, I’ll give Conservatives the best election scare they’ve had here in years. They’ll pay more attention to our issues and riding because they can’t take our vote for granted. Every vote for the PPC pokes a hole in political correctness and changes debate in Canada. Without us, a Scheer government would stay in the mushy middle, dragged to the left by the NDP, Bloc, Liberals, Greens, and the media. A PPC in opposition gives the Conservatives more room to be... conservative.
Again, no one has to worry about splitting the vote in Cypress Hills – Grasslands. They only have to ask themselves what leader, what platform, and what candidate would best serve them.
