Search Scopus
Visit NAU Library Scopus database
Must visit it through NAU library system.
Create a SCOPUS account with your NAU account, if you have not done so in other courses.
For Module 2 Optional Discussion
Click Search
Search your topic. EX: "Open Education Resources"
Select your search field. Generally, Article, Abstract, Keywords are relevant enough.
Click Search
You can use "limit" to narrow down your search results if relevant.
Refine Search
If relevant, use left panel to refine your search.
Click ALL to select all your search results
You can different search criteria to refine your search results if relevant
Click CSV export
Click CSV Excel
Select the exported fields
Export
Save the file to your computer
Visit VOSViewer, a Bibliometric network analysis software
Download VOSViewer OR
Use VOSViewer Web Start online without installation
The desktop version offers greater comprehensiveness compared to the limited functionality of the online version.
If you use desktop one, you may need to download the newest Java Runtime Environment.Â
Click Create
Select Create a map based on bibliographic data
Click Next>
Click Scopus
Select your downloaded Scopus CSV file
Click Next>
Select Co-occurrence
Select one of available keywords method
3. Click Next>
You can go with the default value based on your search results or your can refine your number of occurrence of a keyword
The smaller occurrences; the more keywords appear on your visualization vice versa
If not satisfied, you can come back to adjust the number.

Verify keywords to be displayed on your visualization
Some journals are indexed differently; therefore, you may not see a lot keywords were extracted and displayed. If this is the case, consider broadening your Scopus search.
Large circle represents higher occurrence
Different colors represents different clusters
Use left panel to adjust and customize your visualization to your reflect your research contexts.
Select any specific circle/keyword to view its network relationship topics
Click Screenshot
Save them to your computer
Click "Save"
Provide relevant names for map file and network file
Click "OK"
