Events

Our events are many and varied. Since our Chapter was chartered in 2011 we have held an annual fundraiser called Keep The Light On. This event raises funds primarily to keep the Light on at the VFW Memorial at US 258 S and Suggs Rd. Conetoe. Funds raised during this event also support local veterans, the Colon Furr Nursing Scholarship, the American Legion Legacy Fund, and other charities.

Members of our Chapter have participated in the Legacy Run, a multi-day, multi-state ride to support and collect donations for the Legacy Fund. Our members also support local funerals of Veterans, as well as various patriotic celebrations.

Another mission we have is the NC Legion Pony Express, to help garner memberships and carry them to Department Headquarters in Raleigh each spring. We do this like the Pony Express of old but on "Steel Horses"

We participate in the Monthly Reading of the Names Ceremony, held on the 1st Saturday of every month, at the State House in Raleigh. This ceremony is a remembrance of the 190+ POW/MIA's from North Carolina.
